ok I may buy a PS3 today(a pre owned one)

played online for a few games, won 2 lost 3. I really don't like the gaps in the d-pad. Can I use any USB pad with the PS3?

Yeah pretty much any standard usb pad should be fine, you can get one of these beauties (SEGA Saturn USB Controller Gamepad) from a certain auction site, they are brilliant for street fighter and retro games on your PS3/PC.

There's no need to switch it off at the back, I'd go as far as to call it a waste of effort unless you're uber anal about electricity usage.
Or unless you actually care about wasting money for very little effort. You would be suprised how much electricity is used by household items while they are left on standby... it all adds up.

I can live with under 20p a month tbh. ;) In fact I'm happy to pay that for the privilege of being able to turn on the PS3 remotely.

There are far better ways of saving money than being anal with all your power switches.

Just tried my Saitek P2500 on it. It works! :)

I just had to spend time finding out which button is what though.

Errr, if it only has outputs, where do you plug your PC in? :p

What lowrider is saying is plug this into your front Left+Right channel input for your speakers:

Then plug your PC into one of the sockets, and this into the other socket:

And finally plug your PS3s red+white phonos into the above.

This will have your PC and PS3 connected to the speakers at once and will allow for audio output from the PS3 when the PC is turned off.

[EDIT] Bah, just saw your edit, well, there's an exact guide above for yoo :p

I have followed this but I can only get the sound for the PC and not the PS3?

Just to confirm.. I plugged in the HDMI from the PS3 into the montor. Plugged the splitter in the back of the PC (Green: Front L+R). Plugged the speaker cable into one of the splitter sockets and plugged the RCA/Phono adapter into the other splitter socket. I have also connected the Composite from the PS3 to use/connect the phono cables to RCA/Phono adapter.

I've set the sound to output via AV/Scart but its not making a different.. Any suggestions?

As see you've got it slightly wrong.

Plug the splitter into the front left/right socket in your subwoofer. Then, plug the green cable from your PC for the front channel into one side of the splitter and the bits+bobs for the PS3 into the other side of the splitter.

The aim is to have it so that both the PC and PS3 are feeding audio data into the front left+right channel inputs on your speakers.

[EDIT] Just realized you aren't the same person as the Op. Do you have the same speakers as him? If not what do you have? Different speakers may not be capable of what we told the op to do.

You need to plug the male end of the splitter into your speakers, not your PC.

You're currently sending the PC signal to the PS3 and the speakers by the sound of it.

Edit: Second page of fail. :(

As far as I can see your only be able to get stereo sound from the PS3 using those speakers, to do this it should just be a case of plugging the HDMI into your monitor coming from your PS3 and also plugging in the supplied composite cable into the back of your PS3 and make sure in the 'audio output settings' menu you have 'Scart/AV Multi' selected so you can use the left & right (red & white) phono's leads for your sound, now I'm guessing you'll want to continue using your speakers with your PC also so this will require the use of a couple of things,

A 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 x RCA/Phono - Left & Right Audio

Adapter (1)

and a 3.5mm jack splitter

Adapter (2)

EDIT - <waves fist @ streeteh>, didn't notice your post as I was busy researching what was needed :-(

I used similar method for my 360/pc setup but I got really low volume and crackling sound so in the end I had to use line in on my x-fi instead.

How do I get it to work with my soundcard? I have it plugged in to the line in of my Xonar D2X using the phono to 3.5mm jack adapter but I don't have any sound, It works fine the other way, I just thought I would try it.
