OK spec me

Getting more used to CSGO now also. :D Just using Headphone mode and no Dolby or anything.

The sound details you hear is crazy. Its like when you first went from SD to HD but in audio terms.

Am defo a changed person coming from 5.1. I will hoe ever say this 5.1 is still very good, and offers its own audio style.

Glad you are getting to like them. It only takes a few days for you to get used to good stereo headphone. And if you think it's good now, then wait a few weeks and go back to the 5.1 headphones, You will be wondering how ever used them for anything.

5.1 headsets do offer convenience and that is their biggest advantage. You generally don't have to do any messing about with settings or anything like that to get good positional audio, and they come with a mic attached. It's all very user friendly. Other than that, no, headsets have nothing on stereo headphones. It's only a lot of marketing fluff that has created the idea that 5.1 headsets are needed for good positional audio and that more = better.

And if you think you have good positional audio now, would love to see your reaction when you get a pair of headphones with a really good sound stage like the AKG's discussed earlier or even the Samson sr850's that I said. :D

Oh, welcome to the world of good headphones and high end audio. Say goodbye to your wallet :p Soon you will have 2 or 3 headphones lying around :)

Yeah, the more and more I use these the better things sound. Had quick go of Wolfenstein Yesterday am little bit into the game. and the sound difference was stunning. Even the talking was like Cinema-issh if you get me. Very deep, detailed voice overs.

About having multi - headphone setups how do you guys switch between them? Do you simple unplug and plug in the set you want or do you have amps with couple jacks in them for switching?
I can tell you right now this wont be my last set ;)

I have a couple of pairs on a mug tree at the side of my desk - I just grab the ones I fancy using and plug them in :D

Yeah, I am just like Rids57, I just swap over depending on what I am listening to.

I must save up and buy a set of Fidelio's. They might be my next headphone purchase and could replace my modded RX900's as my main headphones.

becuase of you guys I suspect this will be how I end up.

Q701 are on the list to buy and I highly doubt it will stop there. Mind you that said spending £200 every now and again on something i'm interested in is no biggy I've spent too much money on computer parts to suggest this isn't the norm anyway. :D

I do have a habit of getting into things this one is a good thing to get into I love music I am the product manager for soundcards and speakers and I like shiny things.

I can see massdrop becoming a valuable tool.

A massdrop and i'll be in there. :D

Massdrop would be like torture for me - I buy something and I want it now, tomorrow at the latest :D

I know but when saving £60-100 I'll be more patient.

saving a £20 or less I would probably buy it at the higher price.

Yeah, saying that I've been looking at Audio-GD Amp/Dacs, which are very attractive with the pound to dollar exchange rate but they have to be sent direct from the far east. So I'd not only be constantly checking on it's progress but I'd also be worrying about whether it manages to slip through customs or whether I get stung. :D

Shankly, glad your enjoying your new phones. Did you do the sock thingy?

Also anyone know if 3.5mm cables make much diff in sound quality? Really want a braided set but not sure. On rainforest they sell 1.5m Veo for less than a fiver.
Edit got the KabelDirekt Pro Series 3m in the end nvm.

Not done it yet, I might just leave it and give wipe every couple days.

Shankly how you getting on?

Loving it mate, very happy.
Got used to csgo now also, can easy pin point the sound directions.
The added benefit of better sound quality also.

Music I have now stopped using my sound system and been using these Haaa, pink Floyd is like listening to new music again.

Am now, thinking changing sound card to something with a amp or a external amp.

The STX works brilliantly with the X1's imo, you might be able to get an external amp/dac that does a slightly better job but I didn't want an external solution.

HD titanium you missed a cracking deal yesterday :o

the STX is fantastic tbh STX II also great and the dolby features are all still brilliant.

Really like how switching from speakers to headphones doesn't require a restart on the STX II not saying it does on the STX just remember my ZX which I was using before not liking it. and having to RR certain programs after a switch which isn't ideal.

on the STX II it's click on the panel change it hear the sound card physically turn on the headphone amp and your in.

At the moment on my desk I have the Essence ONE the Essence STU and the EPH-O2D Spoiled for choice.

I've just tried switching on the STX and indeed heard the clicking noise.

What does the II offer over the 1st one? I imagine it's incredibly difficult to notice changes in sound?
