Weird stuttering ...

Er is something up with my board/cpu,

Ive been getting bad stuttering in games and in windows recently, its like everything drops to about 5fps then it'll be ok and in windows everything will be sluggish for a few seconds, im also crashing.

Ive disabled C1E and EIST options in bios also the other settings like virtulization etc

I was overclocking the cpu to 3ghz and video card up a bit but i went back to defaults.

any ideas???

hmm, i would have thought that a properly released bios would be ok, i understand the beta not working but a proper one hmmmm, complain see if you can get something free from them

Still get juddering, but not as bad, it seems to happen about every 2 minutes, i get jerkiness/juddering for about 5 seconds in games and in windows. But in games the fps doesnt drop, its just juddering across the screen when you move.

Ive tried my brothers ram and gfx card still the same, also reinstalled windows 3 times.

k tried that still the same.

I can't exactly remember it started happening, but i think it started when i tried overclocking a few days ago, i clocked it to 3ghz on 1.4v

Do you think i may of damaged my cpu ? :<

I just realised that i had the extra plug that plugs into the motherboard power socket was hanging out half way, i should have put it in first then the long power plug to lock it in place.

I still get the stuttering though, maybe ive damaged the mobo ?

Getting random crashes

It feels like when the stutters happen that my pc slows right down like its dropped to 500mhz or something.

Sometimes its worse then just crashes out

Any ideas it's doing my head in

Ive been right through all my wires now

Reinstalled windows loads of times using diff versions of drivers.

Only thing i can think of now is that either my motherboard or cpu is messed up, maybe ive somehow messed up my bios when i flashed the beta bios ?

It's probably better if a mod can move this to general hardware

Edit: Just ran sp2004 for just over an hour no errors.

Tried my brothers CPU, still the same

Disconnceted drives other than my windows one and dvd drive, still the same

So this leaves my PSU or boot drive (raptor) ? :S

I get the same problem, theres a hotfix for windows but you've gotta ring Microsoft to get your hands on it.

EDIT: Here's the article. Link to the patch is at the bottom of the page along with instructions on how to remove the patch if it doesnt work.

After an hour of WoW (the only game to give weird jittering and lag) the patch works for me! :D

Nope that has no affect, although when my ram is set to 533 1:1 (266) it seems a lot better, but it still stutters

Erm hope this doesn't sound silly but maybe it is some form of malware, you said you have "reinstalled" windows which means that some nasty may still be present hogging resources from time to time. I know this can happen as it has happened to me a month ago, juddering in oblivion which I removed with hijackthis.

Might be worth a go, if you have formatted and/or used a different hard drive then please ignore and good luck.

Yeh that wouldn't be possible, ive formatted loads of times, i use highjack this quite a lot after ive installed things, and i generally don't install crap

It could possibly be your HD on the way out. Do you have a different one to try? It's a long shot but I can't think of anything else, I'd normally blame the mobo/drivers but you've changed them...
