Ok

Hm? We're fast reaching USA levels of infatuation with servicemen. The recent Covenant deal is one such example of this. You have the 'they're all heroes NO ARGUING WITH THIS' deal by the media, then all the massive pomp and circumstance at public ceremonies that always seem to involve the military even when they're completely irrelevant. The FA cup was presented by a serviceman for absolutely no reason at all for example.

It's dumb and it's sending the wrong message out.

I'd disagree, personally.

Also why is it sending out a wrong message? Surely pride in a country is a good thing?

edit: Castiel, sent you a message.

Okay, quick update:

Academically I'm screwed. Best I can hope for this year is 40%. My final year is worth 60% so I could still get a 2:2 with work, 2:1 needing a first to be achieved....

Fitness wise I'm running 5 miles 3 times a week. My 1.5 mile run has improved from 17 minutes (!!!!) to 10 minutes 30 seconds, and incorporates inclines etc. Pressups and situps are still lacking, and my diet is poor due to me being broke as anything (I haven't even got 20p to my name haha).

I'm working my way through various topics that could be asked in interview, and would appreciate any other suggestions.

All told my motivation has gained a fair bit, I'm looking forward to seeing the back of this year academically, moving on to doing well in my third year and hopefully getting somewhere with regards joining.

Parents are still to be swayed though...

My god your 21,get a grip man, plenty of time to turn things around.

Haha, but it seems like only yesterday that I was 18, my greatest fear is that I'll turn around and be 30....

I need to take control of myself, enjoyable as it is in the short term to just wander around.

If you're working on your fitness, but not eating well you'll end up giving yourself problems.

As you've said, your parents aren't wholeheartedly behind this move... but as yet it's not too late to back out. Can you see if you're able to borrow £100 off them, and as a test of your own resolve, only spend it on good quality food? You'd be able to pay it back off your first pay cheque.

Go for a run each morning, to buy a pint of milk for your cereals. Keep eating the pasta and try to get a reasonable source of protein into your diet, even if you have to buy in bulk and keep it locked in your room.
