I have an old Time PC I am rebuilding for a friend.
Its got one of the first 64bit Athlons in it, 3200+, with 333MHz SD Ram at Cas 2.5, on a MSI motherboard, dont know which one yet.

Anyway, do you think its worth clocking it?
And what settings do I need to look at (apart from FSB) to work best as I know nothing about clocking AMD CPU's (only really done my C2D).

:)

754 i think, you wont get anywhere with 333 ram, lower your cpu multi and see if the ram will do 400 for a start.

On 754 the HTT has a limit of 1800Mhz so adjust the HTT/LDT multi accordingly (lower to 3)

Volts wise the chip itself will be able to take up to 1.8 but not for long, use about 1.6 as a 24/7 vcore as long as your temps are ok (under 60 fully loaded)

You need to research the spread spectrum, it was used due to a fault in the early cpus, as with errata123(sp?) so see if your core and revision needs it

well I cannot get any Bios update, guess cause its a board made for Time by MSI, so its pants!
And I cannot get to Vcore so can really only play with the FSB.
Saying that, its gone upto 220MHz without any fuss, so as its such a pain I am going to stick with a free 10% increase in speed!

Thanks for you helpful comments. If I was changing the mobo I would have gone for more! But as its just a reinstall and clean sweep (as my friend knows nothing and it was screwed!) I will leave alone now!

:D

MSI are amoung the best boards I have had.

Taken a few A64s to dizzy heights in them

What chipset is it?
If its a 3200 then what the hell is it doing with only 333MHZ RAM?
Its supposed to be on 400MHZ RAM stock never mind clocking it?
