Old bank statements.

Keep in mind you might need letters that are dated over three years to prove your home address for an identity check. Bank letters can be useful for this.
 
Agree with Castiel..my wife an accountant as well..

In some cases Mortgage Company can ask for statements going back more then a year...if you do need copies a bank will charge!!, so I tend to keep 6 years also...if only to stop the wife using that annoying phrase "I told you so"!!!
 
I recently had a clear out and got rid of bank statements, wage slips, etc., dating back to my first job in 1997! I kept 6 years worth just in case.

Got my mum to shred them, least I hope she has and isn't stealing my monies right now :o
