Old Computer Ideas

So I have this old computer sitting out in the garage awaiting disposal and I'm wondering what to do with it.

I'm a bit dodgy on system specs as this wasn't exactly my computer but it has:

Pentium 4 ?Ghz
5 year old ATI graphics card
512mb RAM

Does anyone have any ideas of what use to put this computer to as I'd quite like a new toy to play with ad an opportunity to develop new skills but I just don't know where to start.

Please no suggestions to use it as a paperweight or similar as it just won't be funny.

Linux? File server? Media server? Unix (real *nix as opposed to the first suggestion) such as Solaris 10? VMWare server?

How good is the case? Might be worth going DIY on it and mod the case for a little project.

Or was it specifically software-side you wanted to tinker with?

Get a freeview receiver card and turn it into a free freeview box?
