Old Crt screens?

Il describe the situation fully because i think iv tried everything.
i bought a new setup ( the one in my sig) and iv assemebled it all, i have no os no drivers installed and i cant do so because i cant see anything? so will tht be the problem?
both pci-e plugs in card, iv tried using the molex adaptors, when i power it on the 3 red lights flash on then off.
my screen is VGA so i use a VGA to DVI adaptor and when i remove the VGA lead from the adaptor my screen turns on and says " No signal..." and when i plug it into the adaptor ( powering pc off and on inbetween) the screen turns off and the amber light comes on the screen...

I think iv tried everything any i really need ideas. i tried it with my mates graphics card and it did exactly the same thing, amber light when plugged in green when unplugged and no signal message..
What do you suggest i do... will a new screen fix the problem?:mad:

I don't see any obvious reason why it isn't working. You have tried two different graphics cards, both with the same symptom, so that would imply it is something else (RAM, mobo, PSU, monitor, loose connection somewhere?). I'm not sure what to suggest to you.

First power on the PSU did make a small Pop noise but it still works fine, theres also a green led on the MOBO indicating that it is working, il try removing and reattacthing RAM

reattached RAM, same problem... im thinking of taking it back to retailler and asking them to look at it, but i dont want to pay a load for a small trivial issue.

Though not related to the graphics card issue I decided to ask here because some of the members I see uses LG 700E as their monitor. In the recent time we had bad weather and it rained continuously for 3/4 days. On switching on the monitor there was a strange hissing sound as if something was being fried in the pan and the display was kind of blurred. Things normalized after 20 minutes or so. Can u suggest what caused this? Some people blamed the weather, but isn't there any remedy to it?
