Don't you just think old drivers are so annoying. Today on the way home an old couple were doing 10mph on a 40mph road! They shouldn't be allowd to drive if they don't want to go faster.

They fought to keep this country free, you should respect them and let them cause traffic chaos, you ungratefull git. Also, motors.

I think as soon as you get to the age of 65, you should take another driving test. Conditions on the road do change over the years and people of the older generation may have passed their test before i was even born but still, just check if their safety skills, reactions etc are up to scratch.

I don't even drive yet but i'm aware of drivers of the older generation who really can't drive in a safe way.

I hate them too.

There are more annoying things though like what happened to me yesterday.

I was going down a narrow country lane, and there was a big 4x4 coming the opposite way, so I did the kind thing and reversed back for her as there was no where to pull in and the cow didn't even say thank you

I don't think this applies to all old drivers. However I do dislike the ones that pootle along at 40mph on a single carriageway (60mph limit) and then when get into a town keep doing 40mph. You can't overtake them safely (unless I'm on my bike), and they'll tut at you or dissuade you from over taking (sometimes even accelerating or moving on purpose). It's frankly dangerous.

Next time let the snotty cow demonstrate her (lack of) reversing skills in her oversized barge :D

I Agree, i see evidence of this on our roads every day and its very very frustrating. Everything from the speed they drive to there reactions is terrible. Problem is what can you do ? I meen telling them not to drive would be a nightmare how would they get about ? We dont exactley have a decent public transport system.

Its a difficult one :(

I still think that the amount of accidents is higher among young male drivers though :( However it is true to say that if you take all the other accidents they probably add up to more though are more likely to be scrapes and bumps which are never claimed for or reported. I would have thought that the elderly are probably in that section of the statistics.

I'm not being ungrateful. Yes they fought in the war and i thoroughly respect and thank them for that but that doesn't mean i can't be mad for something else they do.

I few weeks ago I used a toucan crossing (I know... wow..etc :p) and I when I got to the other side a car passed me (going through the crossing). I thought that it was strange because the lights don't change that quick so I looked back at the lights and they were still red! The driver was an old dear in a Civic, probably blind as a bat.

ooo random story from work!

Work at a stupidmarket and apparently there was some commotion in the carpark and someone shouted for help. Next thing I hear is a call for the driver of a dark red Scenic Reg 'XXXX XXX' to come to the Customer Service Desk.

I got my break just in time to see a couple of customers chatting at the desk. Listening in it seems the guy that had run in asking for help had seen someone (old woman) drive into this guys Scenic in the car park and leave a sizeable dent in it.

The call for help was to get her out of the car and get details from her. This was after she had backed up and hit the Scenic 2 more times!!

Apparently she was just going to drive off until 3 people man handled her out of the car! :|

Musta been a tiny bit loopy :o

10 in a 40 is a hazard and its a doable offence as much as speeding I think anyway.
I saw someone doing 10 in a 30 the other day, it was in the middle of town though so I went 5mph and waited for her to inch her way into a junction, no biggie

I think Pyro was joking, how do you know they fought in the war? ;)

Honestly I don't think they do see you sometimes!

Once I was driving back from work along an NSL road. I was coming back rather late so the road was empty but it was during summer (so still light outside)

It was clear behind me and I could see a car at a junction further up the road. As I was fairly close to the car and it was clear behind me I assumed they'd wait!

At the last possible second they crawled out in front of me (to turn right across me) into another car coming the other way (it was clear behind that car). We were both doing 50+ mph

Thank goodness it was dry and both of our brakes worked. I could see myself hitting the side of this car!

It turns out it was an old dear who hadn't seen either of us. We just put our hands up in the air and the old woman completely ignored us!

I get this one a lot down the lanes, and every time I have a different reaction.

Last time it happened it was easier for her to reverse but she didn't, so I wound down my window and shouted out "Sorry, I can't get into reverse - you'll have to go back instead".

It took her forever, weaving from side to side and she'd still only gone back a few metres (passing point was about 15m or so behind her) so I lost my patience, threw it in reverse and went backwards up the hill for well over 200 metres to the previous passing point.

Don't buy a house in the country if you can't reverse.

i saw a women who must have been about 90 driving a brand new 06 civic today, I thought shes not gonna live long enough to run it in, oh and btw the new civics look awful

People who go 35/40mph on NSL roads really annoy me! Especially when they also break for every slight bend in the road, heh.
