Just some idle musing.

I'm been scanning all the old family photos bit by bit. I've got a document scanner for the normal sizes 6x4 and similar. But there are few large photos I might like to scan.

I've acquired an old Cannon 9000f MK1 missing the slide attachment but it's no longer supported in W11. I see there's some black friday offers on 3rd party drivers like Vuescan. Is it worth picking this software up for this, or just send out the photos to get scanned..

I assume you've tried the Windows 8.1 / 10 drivers for the Mk.1 and Mk.2 on Windows 11? There seem to be mixed reports of it working for some but not others.

Regardless I can recommend Vuescan having gone a similar route myself until the scanner died. Maybe try the free trial and see how you get on? Ultimately if you only have a handful of large photos to scan it might not be worth it but ultimately that comes down to how much it costs to get it done professionally.

Sounds like Vuescan is the way forward then.. even if it is a bit pricey.

I do have to laugh at the subscription option though. Like does anyone really want to subscribe to some scanning software for a year rather than buy it outright? are they hoping you'll forget about it? Boggles the mind way things have gone, but I guess they wouldn't be doing it if it didn't work.
