This may be border line medical thread, if so sorry MODs and then delete if you must.

But with the weather changing my old fracture/break is playing up. As in agonisingly painful playing up!
It's across my cheek bone over my sinus (I think), so not sure if this makes it worse for feeling pressure changes. I would go to the doctor, but they'll just recommend pain killers again, which don't work. The break happened over 5years a go.

Just wondering if somebody knows any ways to help ease the pain in these changing weather conditions? Even if it's taken from a broken leg or arm, there must be something out there that helps?

5 years ago? Are you having a G? Go see a doc and ask for a referal. 5 years ago shouldn't be bothering you with that much pain.

I shattered my foot a while ago, felt all good to go until I went back to work. I work outside and the weather is deffo not helping, according to the doctor it will always get sore in the colder weather and its something I'll have to live with.

My collar bone that I broke in two places many moons ago still plays up in the very cold weather. It itches and aches a little. I put up with it. Too busy keeping my gonads warm :D

When I was 18 I broke my right Femur. I ended up in traction to 2 weeks & the muscles in my right leg seized up, I had to go to Physiotherapy for 3 months afterwards. My right leg has not been the same since & the pain in my right knee & hip gets worse every winter or when there is a prolonged wet spell where I live. :(

I didn't realise cold affected old injuries - I never noticed it with my broken arm.

I've noticed it myself and many people report it happening with cold, damp weather. It might be down to pressure changes accompanying the weather. It might be a placebo effect, as there doesn't seem to be any way it can have an effect. Minor external changes in pressure, temperature and humidity don't cause the same changes internally and changes in those things not caused by weather (e.g. swimming, changes in altitude, etc) don't have people reporting the same thing.

I'd be getting it checked out, doesn't sound right.

Agreed. Minor aches, well, maybe. Any serious degree of pain, no. It's a good idea to get that looked at by someone who (a) can examine you and (b) is qualified. You can't get that here.

I'm sure some of the posters here would be more than happy to carry out (a), just need a webcam...

I haven't quite recovered from my dislocated elbow, and the cold isn't doing it any favours currently. Especially in the mornings.

I think the best thing you can do is just try and keep it warm. I realise that with an old facial injury like yours that it's not going to be easy though...

Neoprene phantom of the opera mask? Works for my dodgy knee.

Sure it's not just a trapped nerve? Just bother the doc until they refer you.

Cheers for the help guys.
I may go and ask for a referal just for a check up.
Outside I usually have my scarf pulled up over it, either hiding my face like a thug or having it loped sided. But even sitting in the house it's agony.

It used to happen to me with my broken leg but its gradually getting better (3 years now). Have you tried some deep heat on your cheek?

Well i've broke my ankle, leg below knee, ribs, knuckles and nose over the years. They all give me some kind of ache, but none as bad as my knee, when it's cold and wet I get achs and pains, and it tends to seize up and restrict movement. I've been docs with it and they've said that it will get like that, and could cause my arthritis to play up worse. I wouldn't mind i'm not even 30 yet!!

I find keep it warm when you can but not hot, if my leg is hot I find the affects are worse when I go out into the cold.

certainly does if you have metal in you, does for me anyway, its more stiff of a morning (hur hur) and certainly hurts more than when the weather is warmer

Not really noticed it to be honest in any of my injuries (various fractures, breaks and dislocations) sometimes my wrist is a bit stiff if i lean on it same as my elbow really.

Just to note that its probably the muscles more than anything as bones have no nerves in them.

Yeah get a dull ache in the winter on my right foot, fractured the metatarsal on the bottom of the toe next to my little one 4-5 times. Playing football when i was younger, although im only 25!

It's just an ache and a bit uncomfortable, not unbearable pain though so i just put up with it.
