I currently am using the old H115i from my old system, on my new 9900k system @ 3.6ghz (removing the mobo stock turbo boost), but getting hot temps, 52-55c idle. Running CoD WW2 on about 20% cpu load goes up to 75-85c.
Running a CPUZ stress on it makes it raise up very quickly to over 95c, it would continue to climb higher but turn off the stress before it does to prevent damage etc.
PC Specs:
I9 9900k @ 3.6ghz
Z390 Aorus Master mobo
Corsair Dominator Platinum (2 x 16GB) 3200MHz
2 x MSI seahawk 1080ti (AIO versions)
2 x m.2 nvme drives, 1tb & 500gb
TUF GT501 case
Corsair H115i cooler (with standard fans which were included)
So I've tried reapplying thermal paste, I use Cooler Master Mastergel Pro. 3 times all with very similar results.
The temps mentioned above are after I've reduced the volts to 1.1v in bios, CPUZ shows 1.068 on idle
I should also mention, this is with the fans on the H115i set at 100% (2200rpm) all the time which is very noisy)
I got a little sidetracked and a ended up with a long explanation, but what I want to know if there is much of a need to upgrade my old H115i to the new platinum or if all they've done is added RGB on the block and added the ML fans?
So I could just get the ML140 pro fans separately and not worry about RGB to save money?
Overclockers doesn't sell the old H115i so I can't link to a product on here, so will link direct to corsairs page (if not allowed please remove the link)
