Got a v.old Dell Inspiron 7500 here, basically a P3 450 and from what I can see from Google the max supported ram is only 512mb. Is that likely to be the case ?

It has 2 slots available on the bottom and if I stick XP on it do you think it will take 2 gig or is it a limitation of the bios/chipset ?

Ta !

It's very likely to be the case. It's a hardware limitation that you won't get round.

Also if you want to put 512mb in it bare in mind the memory is likely to be expensive because it's obselete and only sold in small quantities. I've just looked on the web site for a large ram seller, and they're not evening stocking SDRam laptop memory.

If you can find it you'll also need to put in 2x 256mb modules, not a single 512mb.
