Old Monitor Busted?

Hi all,

Just under a year and a quarter ago I got given a 19" Hyundai N91S (I think) as a gift. For a year it has served me well, but recently it has been playing up a bit.

If I leave the monitor off, or on standby for a while, eg. when the computer is left on and goes into standby, or if I turn it off for a while, then when I move the mouse or turn the computer on all I get is a blank white screen.

However on another interesting note, it only seems to affect windows. When I turn my computer on for the first time in the morning, it will display the BIOS screen, and then I get a blank white screen instead of the load screen. This often stays like this even after windows has loaded.

The problem can be fixed if I leave the monitor on this white screen for a while, and then turn it off and on again. Almost as if the monitor needs to warm up before it can display anything.

I have tried another monitor on my computer, and it does not seem to have the same problem, and I am currently testing the faulty monitor on another computer, to see if it incurs the same problems.

Has anyone got either any ideas what the problem is or could tell me it is faulty? Unfortunately, I think I am just outside the warranty.

If it is broken, could someone recommend me a replacement, for under £200. It would be used mainly for gaming, so a larger widescreen might be nice, eg. 20" wide.

Many thanks,
gamer
