Stupid thread alert. A friend and I used to send these stupid animations to each other on MSN. One in particular, 'Eat your competition' made us laugh as it makes no sense at all.

Anyone know where one may find a gif or video of this for nostalgic purposes?

You mean like these?

Or the large ones that took up the screen?

The large one that takes up your screen. It was an animation of some dude wearing red boots, he threw something into the air and then ate it.

I can't believe I'm 32 yet it still makes me laugh thinking about it. :D

Even Skype is fading is it not? As even with the transfer I don't see the same amount on Skype/MSN merge as they are on Facebook.

Seems the standard now of instant message is Phone+Facebook.

I miss MSN, those winks were absolutely awful but also brilliant at the same time. It really was awesome.

RIP MSN.

Yep. Rolled into Skype, along with Lync.

Lync is also getting rolled into Skype business now.

Maybe for personal, but it's definitely alive in business. I use it for both every day.

I miss the thing on MSN that meant their whole screen wobbled and it made that noise. A nudge?

Thats what I meant, Microsoft are branding all their IM services Skype. We have just moved from Lync to Skype for Business. Any business that uses Office 365 will have it.

MSN is now near dead isn't it?

Yeah pretty much. A few of us were still using MSN on the cross-platform client 'Pidgin'. Then M$ finally pulled the plug on us before Christmas, about 6 months ago. Still, that was a good long while after they said they'd pull it. We then moved over to Jabber.

Yeah, big time, it's probably going to go down in history as the biggest fail in computing history, bigger even than Xerox giving the GUI and the mouse to Apple because they thought the was no money in it, or IBM letting Microsoft licence DOS to IBM's competitors competitors.

It makes me wonder however if these things will make a comeback at some point. I have very find memories as a kid of chatting and flirting on msn, I don't know if kids experience that any more.
