Old Skool Goal Disallowed!

John Ritchie did this for Stoke against Southampton in the early 70s after Peter Osgood had slagged him off in the press following his decision to move to Southampton rather than Stoke. It was Ritchies hat trick goal as well.

Tried to translate the video description to little success. :p

Wow you're fluent :p

How stupid that it was disallowed... I'd understand if he just got a yellow and allowed the goal but to not allow a goal that was going in the goal anyway is stupid

lol, Arshavin, the difference there being you can head it back and keeper can pick it up obviously. In the OP's video its clear he's showboating as theres no advantage to scoring with your head(unless he needed it for the perfect hattrick).

But its still stupid, where does unsporting behaviour start, should teams get yellow cards for scoring normal goals if they are 6-0 up, because at that point its embarassing.

I can't see how he was yellow carded for the confrontation as the other guys all went after him. It does seem like the goal was dissallowed and he was carded for whatever they think he did wrong, very odd decision. Though probably less bad than the goal given when the ball boy came on the pitch and threw the ball in the back of the net, that was hilarious. At least we know its not just the prem with crap decisions.

Pfft it was a great goal :D

If you think they're being unsportsmanlike then you man up and put more effort in, beat them then wink when shaking hands at the end.

You can't have a go at him for showboating though. Where do you draw the line? At the end of the day, it's entertaining. Should Ronaldo be limited to 3 stepovers? Berbatov banned from flicking the ball with his heel?

If that had been Ronaldo during his time at United, the papers would be creaming over him.

How is that deemed unsportsmanlike when every week I see shocking challenges go unpunished and called 'competitive'?

To me, that is brilliant. Football is about expression, okay, it is a bit annoying, but who cares? If he's got in that position and is in acres of space, the defence need showing up.

I know that, it was a ridiculous decision, I was just saying the Arshavin thing was necessary while the other one wasn't, but as I said, then you where do you draw the line at whats required and whats just showing up the other side, you can't.

I really don't know why the other team got so upset, I guess they might be more upset if he used to play for that team maybe, was a huge favourite there, left for money and was just trying to wind up his old team/players in which case it wouldn't be too dissimilar to a certain Adebayor situation. Still silly though, I still think ADebayor shouldn't have gotten anything for the celebration, he was a git doing it, but people are allowed to be horrible, thats life. He should have got a twice as long ban for the stamp though.

The Adebayor celebration was wildly irresponsible though, he could have caused some pretty bad injuries (iirc a steward got injured?), all because he is an *********. That's not cool. These men are watched by 10's of millions every week, they should at least try and set a bit of an example to the kids.

Oh big deal, he got down and headed it in. He was going to score anyway so why does it matter how he did it? Some of the players on the other team were pathetic.

Great goal.

If it's unsporting behaviour book him but don't disallow the goal. I see no difference between this and getting booked for taking your shirt off or celebrating in the crowd.

Reminds me of when Ronaldo took the **** against Arsenal. Arsenal pretty much instantly tried to foul him.
