I inherited a collection of photographic equipment which is currently sat in my loft. (Its all in cases and proper zip up bags).

Its all eighties 35mm kit I believe, at least a couple of pre-autofocus Minolta SLR bodies and a collection of lenses from all sorts of manufacturers - seem to remember them being tamron, leica etc..

I believe there is general 28-70 lenses, 70-210's, some big 500mm and a whopping 1500mm mirror lens. At least one closeup (macro?) lens, a fisheye lens, plus a variety of filters, adaptors, tripods, monopods etc.

I'll do a proper inventory, that lots just what was in my memory.

Whats the best way to dispose of this kit - ebay? take it to a dealer? or join a relevant forum and advertise on there? Just looking for the best way to dispose of it really. Alternatively if its going to be worth absolutely nothing, thats fine, I can charity shop it.

No nikon or canon kit in there mind you.

Get some detail up and pics up about the gear and its condition fella.

As a bit of a self confessed Minolta geek I can probably help you out.

If you can get photos of condition or note what the condition is, and find out exactly what each lens is, I could pop up a price check thread on TalkPhotography and I'm sure someone will help. The leica lens will probably fetch a fair bit regardless of the mount, old tamron/siggy glass was always poor however. If you can get an accurate inventory we can help.

If they're poo lenses then ebay could well be the place for them, but better lenses might warrant selling on a forum/classifieds section

This forum in fact has a place where you can sell such items but it's probably far slower than an actual photographer orientated forum although it can't hurt to list in multiple places if you do decide to sell online.

skyripper, if you want to know what they're worth you need to post in the Price Check section of the Members Market.

Coolio. Used the MM quite regularly but figured it was PC or audio/visual kit only in there. Thanks.

A very select few here will have any idea what old minolta gear is worth though, had he not posted in here but had posted in the price checks subforum, I can almost guarantee that nobody would respond with any real idea of what the gear is worth.

I'm sure that's the case but price checks shouldn't be done outside the MM.

I can't see any harm in posting his price check in the proper place and then linking to the thread here.

Thats cool, I was really after a 'where' rather than a 'how much'. I'll come back when I have some real information.

EDIT: Sorry, thats given it an inadvertant bump. Which is useless. Ignore.
