Hi,
Im trying to find a good 'old style' phone for my other half. Doesn't need to be a smart phone, and battery life is paramount.
Was looking at the Samsung G600, seems a good all rounder, and can be gotten cheap sim free.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance all. :)

Samsung Monte Slide. Got mines for £30, came with a free rucksack which is pretty awesome and is a good alround phone. Battery lasts about 7 days with moderate usage. Decent speaker on it as well for the radio which I use while at work. Also takes a beating well. 2 months in a dusty work pocket without a cover and there are no major scuffs or scratches.

Looks a bit naff though...is it all plastic?

Nokia 6300 is a great phone!
She doesnt like Nokias for some reason. :(

That's a shame, the Nokia C series is pretty much the best range under a ton - built pretty strong, running an OS that won't kill the battery etc... is there something specific she doesn't like about them or is it a more irrational?

I thought so at first but after a few months it's taken a fair few drops and bangs and just laps it up. It's all plastic but like I say doesn't attract finger prints, cleans up well and does quite a lot for £30. Depends on her budget but if she wants a new cheap phone with buttons for calling and texting it can't be beaten.

However if she's adamant on something stylish you're probably bettering buying a second hand nokia 8800 scirocco or some older high end phone because new press buttons phones will mostly look naff bar the blackberrys.

The G600 was a nice phone in it's day, but it was released in 2007 and just like everything else, things have moved on since then.

What kind of use will the phone get? Is a camera needed/appreciated/neccessity? Also, will internet or email use be needed? How important is the screen - snazzy colour ones will always use more battery than an old style monochrome.

If you're just after a very cheap phone that is good at calls and SMS and has a good battery life, I'd be tempted by a Samsung E1080. Very cheap (£13 from Tesco) and not too nasty to use. Avoid anything from Alcatel - I have yet to find one I didn't want to throw out of the window within 5 minutes. There are a few very basic decent Nokias (1616, 1661, 1800) that could fit the bill but I know you said to avoid Nokias.

What does the phone need on it, what's your budget, and are features or price more important and I'll come up with a plan. :)
