old system renewal

Don't buy a Corsair CV series psu. They are bargain basement tier D garbage and should be avoided. After the failing and exploding Gigabyte psu fiasco I wouldn't touch one of their psu's with somebody elses bargepole so avoid that as well. The psu is not a item you should skimp on so buy a decent one that has a long warranty (the best ones have 10 year warranties, sometimes 12 years in the more expensive ones) which will last through several upgrades. The cheapest I would go on OCUK if I had no other choice would be the Seasonic B12 BC-550. Although like most Seasonic budget psu's, it's not actually built by Seasonic (Helly is the OEM) it does have a 5 year warranty and is supposedly a Tier B unit (sub tier, low priority meaning lack of info/reviews) which is a surprise for this price range. A 550w psu does limit your future upgrade options though, especially the graphics card the way that power consumption seems to be increasing on the latest components.

Is there any reason you can't reuse your Phanteks P300 case? It's likely to have better build quality than the case you are looking at. Put the money you saved on the case towards better components. Picking the cheapest of each component isn't a very good way to pick parts for a pc and can lead to far too many compromises especially on the motherboard which can lead to poor motherboard cooling and a lack of quality vrm's which most likely wouldn't be a problem with a 12100f but if you upgrade to a better cpu down the line could result in throttling.

Thanks for the info on the psu’s this is where I was trying to skimp a bit tbh.
Been trying to keep the build under or around £450
With option to drop in a graphics card further along the line

Just fancied a change on the case side of things. Liked the white with the rgb look.

Most of the bits I added I wasn’t going for the cheapest was trying to add parts with decent reviews like the memory, mobo, cpu

I am leaning more towards a 5600g with a decent asus mobo now over the Intel build.
I thought the upgrade path was better on Intel, but I read somewhere further along the line I could put the best am4 cpu in and won’t be much difference

Personally, I'd go for the Core GC-500 or Core GM-500, they're actual Seasonic units with 7 year warranty and can be found quite cheap, but they do have a sleeve bearing fan :o

It's true, the difference in games between e.g. a high-end AM5 or 1700 CPU and the 5800X3D is not worth worrying about. AM5 likely will have a better upgrade path, but 1700 is rumoured to be having a Raptor refresh later in the year.

Be aware that the 5600G is slower than the 5600 (it has half the cache and is also limited to PCI-E 3.0), but the advantage is that it has fairly strong integrated graphics (though I doubt you'll see much benefit, compared to a 'proper' 1030).
