Old vaio won't connect to sky router

Really strange network issue- my old vaio is the only laptop/ Internet equipped device in the house that can't connect to the router. My iPhone, ps3 and 2 other laptops can all connect to wifi.vaio only connects with a wired connection.

I've tried everything i can think of, installing drivers, deleting cache etc. any1 have any ideas?
 
Check for an updated driver. It's possible the old laptop doesn't support WPA or WPA2 that the router supports. I had a very old XP laptop that a friend asked me to help him with once and I had to set a WEP password on his Router to get it to connect. basically I told him to either replace it or connect it wired as WEp is easily broken these days. he ignored me and used WEP for around 6 months before it eventually died!
 
It's a vista vaio, worked wpa and wpa2 on belkin/ virgin/sky routers before. Il search for drivers but have no idea what board is in
 
I have a vista vaio as well. i think they are just destined not to work, ive had many problems with older routers. Just try and update the wifi adapter drivers and the firmware of the router.
 
Drivers most definitely will sort this. If its an Intel wireless device use the web update utility on Intels website to automatically detect and update the driver. If it's not you'll have to go to the manufacturers website and search :).
 
MTU/MSS perhaps? Used to be the old issue with MTU with vista and some routers.

Have you tried totally deleting the WiFi card > rebooting > reinstalling just to totally clear out the network stack for it.

I shagged my desktop NIC the other day for NO apparent reason and NOTHING would get it to work, had to un-install from device manager and reinstall.
 
When I worked for sky 50% of my calls where regarding vista and wpa/wpa2 not connecting.

Changing to wep fixed this problem, I always got the customer to tell me their wireless card brand, was always atheros cards.

It's the easiest way to resolve the problem instead of asking the customers to go and update their card drivers.

Quickest but downright terrible, WEP being about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
