OLED or mini-LED TV for gaming?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a new TV but not sure if I should go for OLED or something else like mini-LED. Is OLED better for gaming and have any of you with OLED TVs suffered burn-in, or is that not a problem with new TVs?

Is there a particular TV that anyone would recommend? I'm looking for 4K 120Hz and maybe 65"-75", basically anything with the latest features like HDMI 2.1, Dolby Vision etc.

For budget I'd rather keep it below £2000.

OLED for me if you've don't need something very bright. The motion handling, blacks and lack of blooming around bright objects is a clear win for me.

Just comparing my Alienware QD OLED to mini-LED laptop the difference is obvious.

If you're looking at TVs my go to would be LG.

I'm looking into this more and pretty much convinced that OLED is what I want if I don't want to compromise on picture quality. So the next question is which OLED TV?

I think 65" is about the right size for my living room, and going to the next size up adds at least a grand to the cost anyway. Looking at the LG site maybe the OLED65C26LD is the best option at around £2100, or maybe the OLED65C24LA but I'm not sure if that's a slightly older model. I didn't want to spend quite this much but could stretch my budget a bit, or hope for a good deal somewhere.

Is the C2 evo the best OLED TV without spending a lot more than £2k?

Edit - or maybe the G2 OLED65G26LA, if that's worth another £200

Or C3 / G3

What you're suffering from is spec creep, you'll end up with an 83 inch g2 :p .

Ive got the G2 77, ive also got a CX48 - not had a problem with burn in on either of them, although i did on my older C8 and C7. The G model really only offers the flat wall mounting and has a better heatsink so its a bit less prone to burn in over the years.

That's a good point about the heat sync, I thought it was only to allow higher peak brightness than the C2 but it makes sense that it would reduce the chance of burn in too.

I'm also starting to look at other brands to see if it's worth looking at anything else except LG, interesting video here comparing a few TVs - https://youtu.be/RzjQH_4dbSo

What did you get in the end, I love the idea of oled, but the thought of burn-in puts me off.

This is why I am think about getting a Samsung qn95b or qn90b, if the richersounds or lg warranty covered burn-in I’d be leaning more towards a lg c2

Having recently picked up an OLED I could never look back. They are fine as long as you mix content and leave the protective features on. Mini led is not impervious from risk as they’ve been shown to lose brightness. I went for the S95B in the end due to the colour offered by QD-OLED and my main usage being gaming. Already about 50 hours in and screen including HUD areas all look fine.

We just bought a 65" LG C2, and I'm absolutely loving it (still prefer having a Chromecast attached than using any built in software though for Smart services!)
I have it hooked up to a mid spec PC which is great for 120 fps 4k Rocket League - basically I'll play anything which works well with an Xbox controller on it now rather than main PC.

I am getting a PC upgrade itch though just because the screen is so darn good!

Update on this, in the end I went with a LG 65QNED866QA and am very happy with it. I'm sure a (more expensive) OLED would give a better overall picture but this TV looks great to me and I'm glad that I don't have to think about burn in.

I hadn't heard about mini LEDs loosing brightness so hope that doesn't happen
