Olympic Athletics

Not a Bolt fan either really, find him far to self confident (the word beginning with C).
Obviously he's an amazing athlete but still, like he ran the race today and then started doing push ups in front of the cameras.

I think it was tactical what he did in the Jamaican nationals. I think Bolt ran a slower pace and let Blake win so Blake thought he had the upper hand going into the Olympics.

So he's a showman. Big deal. What do you want? Him to be walking off in sackcloth and ashes in sorrow for not breaking the world record?

Bolt is cool
I'd rather him do that than the grunting and chest slams that the US 100m sprinters were doing.

+1 He seems like a great guy. It was funny seeing him taking pics with one of the tog's camera and also going round to speak/hug fans.

Just got in from work... and holy ****ing **** didn't think David Rudisha would break the 800m world record in the final! What a lad!

He smacked it. Pretty much sprinted all the way.

An arrogant man wouldn't have cut short an interview so he could turn round and respect the National Anthem of Kenya. Lots of respect for Bolt.

Did anyone else find it very rude the way that the interviewer dragged Weir into giving an interview when he was trying to show respect to the Kenyan anthem and athlete?

I bet Richard Branson is happy. All the money he invested in Bolt promoting VM and now Bolt has lived up to all expectations.

Maybe he might finally hook my flat up to VM!

Loving Bolt. Looks like those people trying to complain he's to much of a showman are just those people who like to moan about anything. How can anyone think that Bolt is anything but an utterly brilliant ambasador for all sport.

I wonder how much those photos he took will be worth? :p

Bloke on the late, late Olympic BBC show said that someone nicked Bolt's necklace while he was celebrating (I guess sticking his head into the crowd).

Hope that turns out to be a mistake because it's the kind of thing which could stick in the memory when thinking about London 2012.

indeed.

hes making the most of his time in the spotlight whilst he can and enjoying his success, whats wrong with that?

would it be better if he was boring with the personality of a stick?

For me, the best performances of the Olympics (track and field only) so far have been:

1. David Rudisha (800m)
2. Mo Farah (10k)
3. Sally Pearson (100m hurdles)
4. Bolt (100m)
5. Jessica Ennis (Heptathlon)

My big disappointment was also Sally Pearson. Her performance was fantastic, but on a warm, dry day, I'm pretty sure she would've set a new World Record, but as it was raining and cold, we had to make do with a winning time which was (only) one of the fastest of all time...not THE fastest.
