hey guys,

I received my GTX 1070 the other day and so far its running almost stock, minor OC.

I loaded up ARMA 3 and all is at ultra at 1080p and the FPS is 30-40 and its no more than my 380X that I just replaced.

Is my CPU causing this issue (FX 8350)? Oh, and also, my temps are fine and running power is at like 70-80% of the max? What is going on? Someone please enlighten me!!

Well Arma is super notorious for being a CPU whore. Without knowing your cpu it's impossible to tell if this is business as usual or there is something wrong.

because you've gone from AMD to Nvidia, download driver sweeper and make sure all AMD drivers are deleted and not conflicting. Download gpu_z open up your sensors tab and tick the little box "log to sensor" save to desktop now that's monitoring your gpu, load the game up play for 5 minutes close to desktop untick the log to sensor and read back what it says by opening that file on your desktop. gpu usage should be pegged at 99% and clock speed should be around the 1800+mhz if it's stock.

There's also a big difference between Arma 3 singleplayer and Arma 3 multiplayer. Multiplayer is notorious for terrible performance because it's so heavily dependent on the quality of the server and 99% of public servers are awful.

Hey,

thanks for the input, i have done what you said but the GPU load is at 0%? the record file along with MSI AB the max the load got was 84% and most of the time on the log of single figures

I would uninstall afterburner then run display driver uninstaller from guru3d. Reinstall the latest drivers, then reinstall the latest afterburner.

all latest drivers, if it is a problem somewhere, could it be a BIOS thing to unlock more settings/power usage or something? i dont know?

What about other games, are you getting the expected increase in performance there?

in CSGO im getting average 180-200 and drops to 130ish sometimes, dont have many demanding games to test it out what i should be getting. can someone recommend a game, would DOOM be good for that?

Arma 3 has been running like poop on my 780, 980 ti and now my 1070, all powered by a 4770k.. that game is a whole new kind of cpu hungry.

server performance can hammer fps.

ssd server for eg.

arma is just poorly optimized.

the cpu is okay but you would be better off with a intel.

something strange guys..i was on the DOOM demo there (freakin awesome may i add) and in 1080p maxed out on settings i was getting around 110-130 FPS and was sooth as hell..does tha sound better? maybe just games are different, some better optimized than others?

Sounds ok to me, I just tried it on Ultra settings, 1440p and got 90-130 fps on my 1070/2500k.

ARMA is notoriously crap performance wise and CSGO is massively CPU limited.
