Hi , just thought I would give a quick review on the lumia 735 from nokia/microsoft to save you reading the rest I think its amazing phone for the money . here is why

After owning this year a sony xperia sp , lumia 520,620 ,galaxy s3,htx one x I have tried a few phones on android and windows and can honestly say none have impressed me as much as this

The first thing I noticed was the size my most recent phone on payg was the galaxy S3 was a bargain at about £150 this was a good size but the battery was bad after taking the phone to work for 10 hours I was on power saver for last 3-4 hours this was typical with all android phones as the os is so power hungry, the gs3 size was great and the lumia 735 matched it so good start . The lumia 520,620 where just to small and only could get 2 tiles across the lumia 735 you can fit 3 tiles and makes a world of difference. Back to the battery as I write this now I unplugged my phone at 7 am and at 9:24 pm some 14 hours or more later I have 52% battery left on the lumia and I have hammered it today watched 2&1/2 hours of video and hours on calls and its still going strong .

The Screen is one of the most important things I think and after having the brilliant sony and the gs3 I was hoping for good things and wasn't let down its as bright and as crisp as both these phones and I even compared it today to a iphone 6 and it is as good seriously(more on this later) Watching video at 720p is a joy. The speakers on the s3 and the sony where a little muted even at full , the lumia I actually have to turn them down as they are so loud this is a good thing giving me headroom and not loosing clarity by far the loudest I have heard on my phones listed above.

Other bonuses that the s3/sony ect share to a certain extent is the removable battery why people buy phones without this feature is beyond me it dies buy another for less than a tenner not a new phone this is a must , sd card slot with android not letting you run apps from sd you need lots of onboard memory not so with win 8.1 apps can be run from sd and this supports up to 128gb !!! another win there , removable covers the 735 actual has pointy corners that act like a buffer to any drops ect and can be replaced cheap and easily in a variety of colours , why buy a silver champagne coloured phone then buy another coloured cover , just ditch the cover to start with well done nokia . The camera this is contentious as people are still stuck on the mp count even though lumias still win this at the top end the 6.7 Carl zeis lens on this is very very good as to be fair is good on all lumia`s and the front camera at 5mp is another big bonus and if you don't know Carl zeis optics trust me they are some of the best .Its 4G, it has nfc wireless charging I picked this up for £149 yes £149.

I dint want this to be a apple vs android vs win 8.1 they all have their place but I wanted a decent phone that lasted all day that played media really well and was well built, sure there are millions of apps on ios but how many do you actually use on all formats there are the usual suspects for social, fitness , photos ect ect and if you are that serious about games get a ds or psp ect .

I will not deny the appeal of the iphone 6 but after seeing the side by side comparison today I cannot see why you would part with £50 per month for 2 years for a phone that has same spec as the lumia 735 at £149 I mean come on yes a few mp on the camera and a fingerprint reader a battery that lasts 250 hours on standby (lumia 600 hours !!) dual core iphone (quad core lumia)I could go on but check for yourself at gsm arena . I love the iPhones don't get me wrong they are brilliant so no slating me for iphone bashing but

lumia 735 £145
iphone 6 £539

I go lumia and £400 towards a holiday in the sun :-)

Lumia's are much under-rated phones, my wife has had the Lumia 820 for the last 18mths now and she loves it, she has never had any problems and isn't restricted by the reduced amount of apps. The Nokia camera app is excellent and the quality sensors and Zeiss Lens make the phones a real winner with the photography buffs. I would be interested to see the new Lumia 830 when it comes on sale shortly.

Is this what the new wave of astroturfing looks like? Comparisons at different ends of the market, comparisons to devices 2.5 years old? Tries to bury justify weak points such as wp8.1 and it's weak experience / apps?

Nokia Microsoft devices are OK but lets not beat around the bush, they are 3rd in the market because they have weaknesses that Microsoft appear to pretty much let ride without fix. If you're going to be objective at least try to compare it to Moto's, 5Cs, it's real competition.

I'm Saving my Hard Earned for the Lumia 830, similar specs to the 730/735 but it has Glance and a few extra goodies, and a 5" screen. :)

This is the phone i will probably get, was looking at the 930, but the 830 is now more appealing.

Tesco are doing good deals on it starting at £23.50pm

The Lumia and WP experience is a very nice one. The lack of app support though killed it for me.

Hoping there is more support soon. I fear though Google will try to ignore the OS in a way to not aid the competition. Shame as Microsoft rock for supporting other phone OS's

With Windows 10 on the horizon, Google 'may' decide to start supporting the OS in the future!...

Then again... I think I just saw a pink plane with a curly tail fly past my window!! :D

Well .... November the 15th the 920's 2 years old, hopefully something will be announced by then. The 1020's fine, but I really want that mSD card slot!

Saying that, I might just stick with the trusty 920 till W10 comes out and see what they bring to the table.

The 920 has already been replaced with 930.

The 1020 needs an upgrade but just cant see it happening anytime soon. Needs hd screen, faster cpu/memory for fast photos.

I take it you did not see the link to the gsm arena comparing the iphone 6 and the lumia 735 both released in September 2014, if you are going to slate my review please take the time to read it all ,windows phone 3rd in the market means what exactly , like did you know toyota corolla is the worlds best selling car but its not better than a lambourghini just because something sells the most dont make it better

having just bought, and now sold a 635, wp still has some major issues.

while im sure the 735 is lovely it looks super nice but the problem is ther are so many random things lacking from wp8.1. for me the killers were its inability to force voip apps to keep running in the background. the mishmash of microsoft, nokia, xbox, all forced togeter made things feel disjointed. ahh i really could go on more but well. in short i really liked some aspects but ovorall was rather dissapointed.

oh and the 635 cost me £130. it was just plain poor value for money.

Carphoneware house is 149.95 + £10 top up.

And can't see how you could find it disjointed at all. Windows, Xbox and Nokia both fit and seem like they were designed by the same group, namely because they were.
