I am going to be taking a nice trip round Europe this year hopefully on the Ducati and want a on-board cam so when I hit some nice roads, I can simply click record and make a collage of clips to show off.

Any advice on what cam would be best?

The Oregon scientific ATC range are pretty nice and compact. The main downside is mounting it with sufficient vibration reduction to stop the image going 'wobbly'

This is a problem, as the duc is a very rigid bike and does vibrate a lot.

So need something that can cope with subtle but strong vibrations.

I don't know if the issue exists with the 3k or the 5k as I only have the 2k. You could mount it to your helmet, it comes with straps and mounts for that. that would probably reduce the vibration a lot.

search youtube for helmet cam, you will get to see the quality of the camera (minus youtube's crap encoding) if you like it ask the user which model it is

i use a GoPro Motorsport Hero HD cam on the front of my MINI GP at track days.. Mounted on lower front valance.. very good and copes with vibrations well. PLus it comes with a host of fittings, and a little plexi box that is fairly strong (but is replaceable if broken)

We have also used it on my mates Gixxer 600 and it works well mounted on the bars.

Battery like is very good, I can get about 7 hours out of mine when mounted externally, although i tend swap between that and the cig lighter to recharge (extra batts available). Also, on HD u get about 8 hours of footage or more on 720p etc... Obv this requires an expensive SD card :(

Anyway, the shop I bought mine from has since closed, but whack it in google and I am sure u will get some results for the UK.

If u want, i can put some footage up to show quality.. But it is very good :)

There's a clip of the Oregon Scientific ATC5K atached to the front forks of my bike. I got rid of it because the picture quality wasn't great. It always seem to adjust exposure for the sky, even when the road filled most of hte picture and as a result all the videos were dark.

It handled the vibrations pretty good though considering it was mounted to a big single.

Yeah the ATC range is getting a bit outdated these days. Have a look for the contour HD, as the name suggests it runs at HD resolutions (720).

I would give you a link to my website which sells these things, but I don't suppose that's allowed..

I have decided to go with the Go Pro HD motorsports :D

Can't wait to try it out, shopping for the cheapest place now :D
