On board graphics

Onboard graphics only supports DVI-D (no DVI-I) and outputs a max of 1920x1200. Perhaps your monitor has problems accepting a non native res??

Nope, at least it was fine changing the resolution from 2560 x 1440 to lower when connected to a Nvidia dedicated GPUs
