Ok, heres the scoop.

I've recently built a computer for a friend and he wants to connect it to his router to get online. I have the appropriate cables and I am 110% sure that it has all been connected up correctly to the router. The modem and router are perfectly fine, so are the cables. One light on the LAN port is turned on too.

In BIOS the network controller is set in 'auto' (out of the two possible 'auto' and 'disenabled') When I click on network settings in Windows XP (home edition), and attempt to create a new network connection, the computer complains that thee is no hardware installed to connect to a network. I go through Hardware management and it doesn't have a network connection in it.

What is going on, this is my second build and I'm dissapointed that it isn't working properly :( .

The specs of the computer are as follows:

AMD 3500+ AM2
MSI K9N Neo-F nForce 550 (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
3DFuzion 7600GT
Crosair Value DDR2 1Gb Dual Channel
XP Home edition
Enermax Liberty 400W

Please help, Im at a complete loss here!?!?!

Ok, it isnt actually appearing in the hardware manager, so it cant connect to the network.

Basically i believe the computer doesnt think the hardware is installed. Am i right in believing this?

I'm gonna reinstall windows just to see if that does anything

Correct the light on the LAN port on the Mobo is turned on, indicating its connected, not sure about the one on the router, TBH, not noticed it and too late for me to check today.

If it is a driver issue, where which CD would the drivers be located on?

K, i'll try to reinstall the motherboard driver CD today then.

***Update***

Huzaa, Iy worked, cheers for your hwlp guys, just a little confused whaere the drivers went before, even though I installed the motherboard drivers after Windows was installed. Why I had to do it again I have no idea.
