On/Off Switch

Just attach a switch to it, Portwell chassis' tend to have them.
Nothing needs to be changed to the motherboard, you just attach the standard power switch front panel cable to the switch and it turns on and off.
thing is, they tend to be more like 'spring' switches, ie you push it and it returns to the same position, unlike a light switch.

that would be like holding the power button on, you want a button, not a switch
Yeah ,but you get some that look like switches...but aren't.
Rather than a push button that is useually incorperated onto cases
it was aimed at the OP, incase he made one himself

Hopefully he doesn't...not sure what would happen really if you just made a switch.
Tbh looking at them, and how a PC switch works, the bottom one would be a lot better, using the flip to get power to PC, and then the 'starter' like a real PC switch, but the wiring and soldering going into it would be hurendous and it would be a mahoosive project

On the ignition/starter switch the wiring wouldnt be too bad, you could wire the ignition switch in series on one of the power leads and then feed both wires to the rear of the starter.
This way the ignition would make the circuit live and the starter would actually kick the system in.
If you do it this way you would simply need to cut into one wire and there would be the minimum of wiring fuss.
Disclaimer: all of the above could be completely wrong but i feel that it should work

I did that, but with a key switch and a toggle switch, so yeah, it can be done. its pretty easy if you know what your doing. I would recommend putting it on the computer itself. I dont reccomment trailing what are supposed to be internal cables out and then under a desk.
right, would some one beable to draw me some plans of were to cut and mount the 'box' (want it were the tray is on the 900)and how to wire it up please?

It's gonna be difficult, you realise there is metal about half an inch behind that plastc tray dont you? you'll need to cut the metal and may not have enough room underneath for an ODD I would strongly reccomend putting this on one of the many spare front bezels you get with the 900.
And the wiring is simple, take the old power switch line, cut out the current switch, and put your two new ones in. Do them in series. Doesn't matter what order.
