Not sure how it works in Englandshire, but up here we've had a couple of clients who wanted to stay on site for extensive remodelling / new build in a caravan and the planning department required an application to locate the caravan on site for the duration. Seeing as yours is relatively short (6 months or less) things may be ok.

When are you looking to start?

6 months from April to September is probably the warmest half of the year, so you should't have to survive from a bitter winter. - Which there always seems to be someone who has battled through on Grand Designs, and you can always tell it wasn't pleasant.
