on switch change in Antec 900

Hi,

The on switch on my antec 900 case is knackered. It stays depressed when you press it so the computer just switches on then off about 2 seconds later, over and over again, after many many attempts the switch comes up properly and the thing stays on and i'm using sleep most of the time which is OK but not ideal. I also keep forgetting and hitting the switch when on auto pilot, the kids are learning new language when this happens!

I have read you can change the wires between the on and reset buttons on the case but as I am dramatically challenged when it comes to practical stuff I haven't even worked out how to get the top off to look see, or do you have to remove other internals and get at it from underneath. Being completely honest unless its ultra easy to do I would take it a little shop to do. Even if I can get at the wires can they be swapped over and is s unplugging and swapping in which case fine or is this more complex.

I don't think you can get a replacement unit, you can get the top ports replaced but not the switch, I have looked but could be wrong.

Any help or ideas welcome, Yes when I eventually get it on again I will tape over the switch this time but would still like to fix if possible.

it would be easier to just swap the power / reset wires on the MB headers just plug the reset into the power and dont plug the broken one in at all, then if you ever need to reset you pc you can short the reset pins with a small screwdriver, not the best soloution though.

also to get the top part of a antec 900 you need to look inside at the roof and you will see 6 plastic clips that need to be released to free the top.

Thanks,

I can see where the wires attache to the MOBO do they just pull out and plug in, they are very small attachments, look a little fragile.

As it happens I got frustrated as it wouldn't turn on at all and took it apart, managed to get the top off and unscrew the top ports and unplug the fan so the top would come up a little, still quite tight though. Managed to unplug the on switch and the actual switch is fine its how it engages, or in this case now doesn't, with the black switch part of the case that's broken.

There is glue helping hold the whole thing in place and the two plastic clips that keep the switch in the housing once bent a little to get the switch out really don't re-engage reliably at all, its even worse on the reset side where the blue 'on' LED is all mixed up with the switch and lots of glue so couldn't really swap.

So basically removed the black switch bit that was part of the case, destroyed to get out, and tried to reliably mount the switch back but couldn't. Temporarily I now have it hanging out the side of the case as couldn't find any superglue to keep it housed.

There is a fine line between mod and botch and its on the far horizon behind me......

Anyway if the mobo attachments attach and detach easily will do that and put the redundant switch back in the case.

Silly bloody thing to go wrong with whats a good case.
