HI all.

finally ready to throw my old One X in the bin after trying 10 different Roms and 100 different tips on how to save the battery life etc as the battery life is just down right shocking.
i get between 6-7hours ONLY if i use the phone to read emails(syncing 4 gmail accounts with one of them i get email quit frequently, tweetcaster and tapatalk as well.), and only get maybe 30-40mins screen time only.

It is pathetic so i am looking to upgrade now.

I am leaning towards either a S4 and a One but i am favouring the S4 as it has interchangable batteries so that if my s4 battery dies i can carry spares. It also has expandable memory which the One doesnt .

Which device has better battery life?

Loved my One X, but got rid of it after 2 months as the battery life was awful and would not last a day.

Moved instead to an S3 and subsequently an S4 - both have been fantastic with 5+ hours screen on time and the phone lasting 48 hours for my usage. If you're a heavy user, I would have thought that it would easily last for a day.

In my experience, the only thing to watch out for, are certain apps which drain the battery. After installing any new apps, I always leave the phone on overnight and monitor battery usage/sleep state as a double check.

I would have thought the gmail app will be murdering your battery. I have two accounts with push on and it murdered my battery

Set it to refresh every hour and see if that makes a difference.

Oh and I wouldn't bother with ingress yet (seen you asking for a invite in the thread) that game REALLY murders the battery.

I have 2 gmail accounts with a lot of emails each, it's not a lot for the battery tbh and I have not noticed any difference between me turning on Sync and turning it off.

For Battery life I would look at maybe the Note III with an external battery I don't think anything will be better.

When it comes to battery the S4 is better then the HTC One.

Nice. i think im all set on a s4. is it easy to root and is S-OFF doable on it?

S-OFF is a HTC Thing, Rooting is quiet straight forward with all the Samsung phones I have owned before. I also use CF his the man.

They also have the Google Edition Roms too now if your feeling stock android, battery life is a bit better from the reviews I have seen, the camera takes same quality pictures but the camera app isn't as nice and you lose all those fancy S-crap samsung packs with the phone. It should be faster too.

root is so easy you won't know what to do with yourself.

HTC make it more difficult than it should be.

Yep loads of ROMs to choose from.

I'm running a TouchWiz custom ROM (bloat stripped) and it's very fast. Runs an AOSP theme. It's called Foxhound.

Put Foxhound on my Dad's phone so it could be a similar experience but cleaner he really liked it too. Some of the S-crap really hurts the phone more then anything but they look pretty in the advertise.
