On the verge of getting a copy of Crysis Warhead

What patch do I need with Crysis Warhead? I see 1.1 and 1.2, though I'm reading in some places that 1.2 is only for Crysis Wars, not Warhead.

Well you gain experience and access new planes as you progress but the game itself is a linear experience so its more of a gimmick. I myself got bored after 5 or 6 missions when I knew it wasnt going to change at all. Fighter plane anoraks need only apply.

I'd say go for Warhead if you liked Crysis. I enjoyed both.

Fighter plane anoraks would hate it - it's basically an arcade game.

Going to bump this.

Tried installing and playing Frontline : Fuel of War, but I couldn't do it. Apparently it's one heck of a buggy game.

Is Halo like the COD series (and the others in my OP?) or is it more e.g. Oblivion / Far Cry 2.

Warhead is fairly good on PC, if you're running it max it gives some sort of "wow". But I managed to complete it in under 5/6 hours which I thought was too short!

im enjoying FEAR 2 at the moment if that flicks your switch.

Are the graphics good? I want something to stress my system!

the graphics are fine but they wont stress your system.

I run fully maxed 1920*1200 16*AF 4*AA with a 3800+ X2, 2GB RAM and 8800GTX. Absolutely no slowdwown but it is good fun.

DVDbunny? I find it very hard to believe that you can add 4xAA without slowdown on an 8800GTX - I play with it maxed at 1920x1080 on a 280GTX and a Quad, and AA kills my FPS. Kills it deader than A-line trousers with pockets in the knees.

hmm 4*AA is selected as is 16*AF @ 1920*1200

i have shadows enabled but have no soft shadows option - everything is maxed out.

im wondering whether this game hides options based on what your card can handle. either way i can assure you that i am fully maxed out on my setup.

quite why you'd think i care enough to BS is beyond me.

EDIT: water resolution was on minimum as was sound quantity. not sure if that makes a difference.

EDIT 2: looks like theres a few vids on you tube of significantly lesser cards playing this maxed out - maybe its your drivers.

Cheers for your advice lads, but I was only able to visit an exchange store near me.

Playing Dead Space atm and loving it. Very freaky! :D

I also bought Velvet Assassin.

The IGN review of Dead Space says that the controls are awkward on the PC. What are your thoughts on this? Also, I have loads of vouchers for an exchange store and I'm thinking of picking up the game myself. However doesn't it require online activation? What if someone's already done this??

I got all the way through Dead Space with mouse and keyboard and had no issues at all. One mistake I made was selling my default weapon(plasma cutter) at the first chance I got and never used it again till near the end. It's really worth upgrading as soon as you can.

I liked Dead Space, but wasn't blown away by it. Mute main character, missions and story are totally contrived. I didn't like the credit collecting and use of shops on a derelict mining ship. But it's got good atmosphere, looks great, and has some pantpooping bits. Certainly worth a blast on the cheap.
