20k is a mystery I don't want to be exposed to

Keep going lads. Already lost my grandad through drinking and nearly lost my dad, so it's quite a close subject to me. Im only a teenager, but I will always have that in my mind......

A very warm welcome mate :)

This is the place to rant and rave, give tips and offer support. For some it has already started, for others (like yourself) it's tomorrow.

Some are cutting it out completely, others are cutting down. No one is being forced (we will forget the order you got in GD TIAM ;) )...

Well I've not had a drink today and have just sat down with a nice cup of tea in my trusty OcUK mug. No time like the present! Got to cut it out completely, just to prove to myself that I can do it.

It's going to be an interesting month chaps. Best of luck! :)

To celebrate Stopober we'll celebrate with a cocktail tonight.

So a nice and easy to prepare Atomic Cat:

4 parts orange juice
4 parts tonic water
Ice cubes
1 highball glass

Pour the orange juice and tonic water into a highball glass filled with ice cubes.
Stir well.

Cheers :)

I am in too. Not drunk anything yesterday or this morning. Keep it up chaps, may all who are successful bask in glorious....glory?

Tomorrow marks 4 weeks off the booze for me! Been doing lots of exercise, xbox gaming and eating!

Has anyone else realised just how hungry they actually are once they've stopped drinking? I seriously feel as if I'm just rediscovering my taste for food at the moment. It might be the increase in exercise but I do think the lack of hangover associated nausea is also improving my appetite

Well that's one day down, will report back when its seven !
Nice 'one' Andy ;) Jump in here anytime mate :)

Firstly, well done mate! :D

This is a weird one for me as I've taken this time to change my eating habits too.

I'm opting for more healthy meals and cutting out snacks. So yes I do feel slightly more hungry but I've been putting this down to the diet rather than the lack of drink... having said that, I had a homemade curry last night and no beer! It didn't feel that bad at the time but whenever I went to bed I had an awful craving for a cold bottled beer!

No I didn't give in :) Speaking of bed... anyone else sleeping better?

Going to stick my porridge on soon, that will keep me going for a while.

Another cocktail to try, Regal Refresher:

25ml Bottlegreen Ginger & Lemongrass cordial
5 slices of fresh cucumber
Top with Highland Spring sparkling water

Place cucumber slices throughout cubed ice in tall glass, add remaining ingredients, swizzle, and add a sprig of fresh mint to garnish.

Cheers :)

God yeah, my sleep has much improved, I think I'm sleeping less, but getting a quality sleep. When I had hit the sauce I could quite easily sleep 10 or 11 hours at a time and still wake up exhausted and lethargic. I'm now down to about 8 hours but waking up naturally, feeling refreshed and actually ready for the day ahead!

Porridge for me too this morning after a wee pre 0700 run, 'twas yummy

Cosimo, I'm loving the cocktail recipes

Today's cocktail, Nojito:

1 oz Lime Juice
4 oz Club soda
6 Mint Leaves
2 tsps Brown Sugar

Add the lime juice, brown sugar and mint leaves in a Highball glass.
Bruise a few mint leaves using a spoon so that their juice can get out.
Let this mix rest for a few hours for best results.
Fill the glass with ice and stir.
Top with Club Soda (or Sprite).
Add a twig of mint for decoration.

Cheers :)

Nice sounding cocktails Cosimo!
