Onboard Ethernet

I would say that you've solved it by fitting another card which works so the board must be faulty.

Did you check in device manager for a yellow triangle next to the network card?

What is it connected to?

Could there be any MAC filtering on the other end?

Either its just plain broken - or perhaps it is misconfigured. Go into the network card properties and then the advanced tab. Check Link Speed/Duplex Mode (Can be called other things) is in "Auto Mode"

Same as above, check device manager, reinstall the onboard ethernet etc.

Maybe someone could please please expain to me why the card would be saying "NO NETWORK CABLE ATTACHED" if there was any sort of driver problem that would show up in device manager. I mean, have you ever used a computer?

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies :)

In the device manager there is no Yellow Marks showing any driver error so i think its installed correctly. I'm guessing it maybe a faulty board which i really hope its not.

Keep the suggestions following though. Oh and by the way the light doesn't come up on the back of the on board lan to say that theres a cable in there.

*EDIT: The computer is connected to a router down stairs which is shared by one other computer (Cable Modem -> Router -> My Computer)*

Cheers

Computer?!

I assume that information is in the linked to thread in op? :p

P.s. Not a nice chap are we ;).

I have a laptop that's the same.

One of the pins inside the port must not be making contact or something. :(
