Would having the onboard graphics turned on and having a graphics card in the slot make the cpu work harder.Reason why im asking i have run my new build in bios no windows installed yet and after 10 mins my cpu was about 49 degrees and the cpu fan was running at 4000 rpm so i turned it off.I do have 2 case fans but 1 isnt working yet as i need an adapter for a 3 to 4 pin and none localy will have to send off.

can you disable the onboard graphics in the bios to see if your temp drops, also what are the specs of your kit as different cpu's run at different temps

Its got integrated graphics mode and a few sub headings under that for alocating memory and the like, sideport, uma, but also it says disable will that disable all the feature to do with the onboard.

Or install the system without the graphics card, and add it once you are up and running.

To answer the question, you should disable the onboard graphics if running a graphics card.

It doesnt say its detecting the gfx card as i can see tbh its saysing enabled in the integrated onboard mode.I thought after reading on here over the last few weeks that it would auto detect.mobo is gigabyte ga-ma785gpmt-ud2h. Maybe i have missed something will have another look in the bios.

Thanks m8 it could be a few things then.Stock coler, voltage, case. If the temps are running at 48 degrees at idle after 10 mins whats it going to be like when gaming not good i think.

i did see somewhere about cool and quiet, not too sure if you have that option in the bios (if it is an option) but worth having a look for, if its is an option id suggest turning it on save and exit the bios then go back in and take another look

cool and quiet info

ok ran pc for about 10 mins turned off onboard graphics and cool and quiet is running temp was 49 and fan went up to 4500 rpm. Any ideas new fan maybe.

If leaving the graphics on then can't the 4890 and 785g chipset run in like a hybrid mode where uses the 785g for normal use, only kicking in the 4890 for gaming etc.

As the gpu is in the chipset then wouldn't have thought that would affect the cpu temperature other then in case temperature.

I would suggest try redoing the cpu heatsink, and possibly a bigger fan to get more airflow.

well a decent cpu cooler should help a lot, also arctic silver paste is pretty spot on aswell, probly set you back around £40 though, see what the load temps are like first aswell
