Hi folks,

Just need some confirmation. I have an Asus mobo (will update with exact model later). None of the USB's appear to be working.

Have tried different devices and all I get is a windows error message advising that "a USB device has malfunctioned, please click this message for further information".

The devices I am testing with are working fine as they work ok on a different PC.

Is my USB really fudged? Will I be ok obtaining a PCI card with USB sockets and plugging that into the mobo or does my mobo now have a general problem with anything USB related?

Sorry for the lack of information but Im a tad annoyed as all was working fine yesterday and this morning and when I got home everything seems to have gone to pot.

As always any advice appreciated.

TIA :)

Check that USB support is enabled in your BIOS.
Check that the windows drivers for USB are installed and working. If you go into your device manager, it should tell you whether the drivers are installed and working, and give you the option to update them.

if it's an Intel chipset mobo there's a known problem with USB not working after installing Intel infs for some people - there is an article on MS knowledgebase about it.

Morning folks. Thanks for feedback. The mobo looks to be dead. Turned on PC this morning and it powered up but no POST and no beep. Disconnected everything and then reconnected only keyb, mouse and screen still the same.

Luckily mobo still under warranty, its an Asus A8N SLi with a 3 year warranty according to Asus.

Anyone dealt with Asus before?
