I sent a webnote asking that earlier.

Not sure if they are cheap ex dell ones *with reduced features* or just, without a box. I'll let you know when i get a reply.

I got an OEM one from OCUK a cppl of weeks ago and it has all the features. Serial numbers check out too etc. Just no box and no driver disk either so had to dl an image, bit of a pain but no biggy.

I have an Xfi Xtreme and so does a friend of mine the sound ingame for COD2 and BF2 is fantastic!!!

Makes ya get totally engrossed in the game your playing!!!!

Glad I got one

Cant you download from creative? Or is this just another audigy2 driver type situation? (I managed to find an image, for the wrong card, after 4 months of looking, then got annoyed and sold it.)

Yeah you can dl the drivers from Creative, which i initially did and it worked fine. However the 'Creative Console' was missing all the fancy interface etc that you get with the proper installation disk.

Finding the image was np and can dig out the link if required..

I have the HD audio on my Gigabyte DS4 and before that I used the Nvidia Nforce on my NF7-s. Imo the Gigabyte sounds rubbish in comparison to the Nforce, it seems flatter and less lively. With that in mind I have just ordered an X-fi Music.

Hoping its good :)

Did it come with the Dolby digital breakout thingy thats listed on the creative website, because you cant seem to buy it seperatly?

Glad i got me one!!!

:D

I've had my X-Fi a good five months now and am very pleased with the purchase. i used 2 have sum Logitech X's and it really made em nice with all the up mixing etc.. I now have an Hi-Fi, and it sounds awsome because of the x-fi.

The XFI needs to be heard to be believed.

Onboard is decent enough but I have always had sound cards due to their quality.

onboard is for office PC's in IMO not music and gaming pc's

ok, this may sound stupid, since I can pretty easily google it. but ive ahd 3 whiskeys now and im on this page :P is the XFI pci or is tehre a pci-e version available?

i have a free pci slot, but my gfx card covers it, so can't put anything in it.

can put something in a pci-e slot though

got a nice set of bose companion 3 spearkers. so the sound card should be making a difference?
quality, not volume. volume is the least of my concerns.

For that audio setup I wouldn't upgrade your soundcard. Upgrade the speakers first.

yea, that's what I figured. that a soundcard with 2.1 won't make much of a difference. so didn't bother to get one with my new rig.

Was just something I was considering, if it made a difference at all.

But if it won't, and since it's PCI, it's out of the question!

Thanks guys :)

I currently have an Audigy 2, I assume Value (came with an [infi]DELL system 3 years ago) and it sounds pretty good. I use Sennheiser 555's to listen to music/play games etc, so would there be a noticeable difference going from an Audigy 2 to an Audigy 4/XFi? If so, is it worth me splashing out?

Cheers.

X-Fi sound is currently the best ive heard for the value (oem on clockers web site) Onboard audio is a bit naff, and its a must for me for good audio...and ive been through a lot of soundcards, and even knackered up some mobo`s by simply putting in a pci soundcard !!!!! (sounds worse than it is) X-Fi wins

I dont think the difference is as big as some people say, and you wont see the benefit of a sound card if you're using pappy pc speakers, however with some good cans/sound system, I found I COULD hear certain sounds in games etc I couldnt hear before I got the card, like the rustle of armour in certain situations.

Not a MASSIVE upgrade, but it is one that can increase the overall experience a little, but it'll be more noticeable with other better sound equipment. For reference I use Sennheiser HD280 Pro Headphones.
