one day before my stroke, I hit my gaming PUBG dream (a cautionary tale)

I found this screenshot from when I was arguing with PUBG customer service, More on that later!
I'd been playing PUBG pretty much since release, and after they released seasons, I would always end up with around 2000 SP at the end of the season,
Come season 5 I had 2000 SP around half way through the season, I had yet to get an in game parachute skin at all, not even the halloween one, so I thought meh, screw this this, I'm going for gold, like, I only had 4000 SP to go to reach the top rank in season 5 to get the white spider parachute skin .easy, right?
I'd been driving more than ever to and fro my long distance girlfriend before I made this decision.
It eventually became apparent that there was no way I was going to make it to 6k SP relying on teaming up with randoms, as I needed to get SP points in every single match if I was going to make it, so I decided to queue up as a duo, and just play the match as a solo player, I was pretty damn good, so I could handle myself like this, I had super low ping and playing solo in duos, it was just the only way it was possible, sometimes my alloted duo partner caught me up to help me win the match, but most often I'd just make it to the top 10 to snag some points on my own, which was not really any different to droping in with my usual IRL friend to do duos with, who generally I'd get the first 2k SP with
So, for the rest of the season, like 3 weeks, I was totally glued to my PC grinding out 6k SP for that damn 'chute, skin
eventually I made it, which felt amazing, yay!( what a rush)
except the next day I had a stroke!
Little did I know that I'd never get, nor even equip it ,
If only I'd have made it for 2 days to the end of the season instead, then I'd've collected the rewards, and been able to play at least one match, with a mega awesome parachute skin, but no, massive stroke was my destiny instead!
So then, as some of you know, I spent 6 months spread between hospital, and a rehabilitation home
After getting out of the care home, I was looking forward to turning my computer on, and at least collecting my 'chute, and clothes skins for being a 6k SP survivour, but *nothing* happened I'd waited too long to pick up the rewards it seemed ( what a let down!)
I did try to talk to PUBG CS about this, but they were not having any of it, and did not give me my rewards even tough in game stats clearly show that I was a season 5 survivour
and here is the proof:

Moral of the story?
don't stick with a long distance relationship, quit it and find someone closer, even if you have a child with them, ( I did,)
Along with this, if you are going to be glued to a PC, then take the time to walk around every now and then, to keep your blood from pooling in your legs, same with if you are doing any long distance driving, take stops, and walk around
definitely have your cholesterol checked too, and get on statins if you need them, when I was taken into hospital, they found my cholestrol was sky high, and immediately I was put on statins, along with blood thinners
while I was away, I did not get any better, losing the left hand side of my body, so I had to face that I was never going to play another computer game that needed my left hand!( I play chess now.)
But while I was away PUBG also introduced being able to use your parachute again, and again, base jump style, so I would have got a lot of use out of that skin, striking fear into other player's hearts out there
It just wasn't meant to be :-(

So, look after yourselves out there,
Please.
:D

Sorry to hear about your stroke. I think the moral of the story here is just look after yourself and stop worrying too much about a video game. I don’t know the significance of a parachute skin or if there’s money in PUBG but try to stay focused on prioritising health and wellbeing. :)
thanks, exactly this, you put it much better than I could,
there is very little money items in PUBG unless you have the trenchcoat that you got from pre-ordering the game, If I sold all my marketable items I'd maybe get £20
The 'chute skins are more to show other players that you mean buisiness, that you are a good player! and mybe to avoid you as you land, meaning less people going for your loot, all the twitch streamers out there have them given away from special cometitions, orfrom getting 6k SP in a season,
I'd just started streaming me play so eventually I would need a cool 'chute skin to show off while streaming

Tough times re the stroke...

But I think you serious need to reconsider whether you should be giving up relationships, children, and your health, over an in game bunch of pixels??

Like I say, I hope you recover and get back on track, but in the meantime, have a long term look at your situation and consider the future for yourself, rather than playing pc games for days at a time....
thanks, it's too late for me now, and I cannot drive to keep up the relationship, she has moved on now anyway, the stroke was a long time ago (2020)she left me when I got out of the care home, it was obvious that we could never manage a proper relationship again and no way was she gonna be able to drive to see me from Scotland like I drove to see her from England to scotland, her being self employed and all, and me not being able to have sex properly, I guess at least my ' pleasure' hand was not affecte, I guess
Our child has grown up a lot now, and is at uni in Edinburg, it's a real kick in the balls, not being able to drive up to see him there
But I'll always know that I made it to the top in PUBG, as it is no mean feat doing that! it took some real dedication, even it it did screw me over
I'm more posting this to warn other that they should stay active, as I'm sure that there are a lot of people here who sit at a PC for a long time.
I still love her, tragically

I saw him at the hospital before he was released, he seem to be cognitively sound but like you he has lost the use of his left side. Rehab is going to take a while and he has a new perspective on where he spends his time now.
It sure is cruel, don't expect too much of him recovery wise, I was positive that I was going to get somewhat better, since I'd been sent to a rehabilitation home, and all, but nothing got better, I'm glad that he and I both had right hand side of the brain strokes, because that avoids the speech center of the left side of the brain
Not being able to talk would be unbearable
and the only way out is almost impossible with only one arm/hand, unless you had a shotgun license beforehand and even then loading the shells would be pretty hard!

You banged that nurse yet?
My carer? lol no, we are just friends,
she keeps updating me as to where in her cycle she is, and what is going on with her potential lovers,
It's all very confusing! definitely in the friend zone, but I'm not complaining, it is still a pleasure to see, and spend time with her., I don't really have many friends now, everyone is so busy with their own lives
it's ragic, really, I couldn't bone her even if she wanted to considering the state of my body..
If I were normal, I'd just take her dancing, and that would be that!
..

What was your weight like and some other info aside from the game
I'd only recently had my annual check up in the november 2019 before the stroke! in january2020, weight was fine blood pressure was good, bmi was fine, waistline was fine, stopped smoking 3 months before the stroke too, but I used to be a heavy smoker prrior to stopping (cruel joke really,
bad cholerestol was mid to high, but I had really high good cholesterol which confused things somewhat, really I should have gone on statins for the middle/high bad choleresterol, it was all written down in a health mot booklet, which I've shown to some health professionals, who have all raised their eybrows as to why I was not put on statins after that
I was really ill between christmas and the stroke, which might have been an early case of covid, which increases the chance of blood clots, I'd never felt so ill before in my life

@Threepwood I thought you had a wife at the time of the stroke?

Edit: Genuinely not trying to catch you out or anything there, I just recall you mentioning it around the time.
nope, we were not married, someone did, mention that they thought I had a wife be after one of my earlier threads, I'd said my GF left me after the stroke, and later hey said to someone else that my wife had left me, I didn't correct them at the time because it seemed a genuine mistake, and she meant almost as much to me as a wife tbh, I still tragically love her, getting over her is proving a real challenge because we were together for over 20 years albeit long distance for the majority of that

What’s all this about then?
Both examples of me using the 'and so does/is my wife joke from the life of brian, read the context of me saying that with that joke in mind and it will make sense, I say' and so is my wife 'quite a lot, thinking that people will get the referene, same with 'I want to be a woman' but yeah the last time I said that here, the person said 'carry on being a normal person on the internet, so I just guess that people don't get the life of brian jokes!

Strokes are brutal. My old man had one at 49 on his right side, took his speech and he never got it back :( Right leg and hand too. He did learn to draw really well with his left hand though. Hope you manage to get some use back and yeah look after yourself people.
this must have been a left side of the brain stroke left side of the brain is the language center, and each side of the brain controls the opposite side of the body, how is he now?

Because it’s not real, whereas your partner and kid are. You’re proud of something, great. But you need all kinds of help, hopefully one day soon you’ll realise. Until then, all the best.
you don't understand, I was not favouring pubg over my relationship or our child, in fact I was driving to scotland, and back at least twice a week, sometimes 3 times, to see them, all this driving I think contributed somewhat towards the stroke, PUBG was meerly a sideline, that pushed my body over the edge

Why didn't you move to Scotland? How did it come about, a kid in Scotland?
we both lived at the same housing co-op country farm house, kinda like a commune, just more grown up (mortgage to pay etc), in Scotlandjust south of Glasgow, that is where we met, fell in love and nine months later our boy was born at home, she is half scottish, and it made sense to bring the Lad up as Scottish, since he was born in scotland to a mainly scottish mother, and a wider scottish family/ community, and he has a Scottish last name, then eventually we both split up , because I kept shagging other women and I moved down to suffolk, where my mum lived, while she moved to south west scotland, our relationship never rekindled into proper love( I did try but it is hard to regain trust) so, we just continued to have great sex whenever we saw each other.
But great sex is not enough to hold two people together it seems, Maybe I should have showed more commitment by moving close to them, but that would have meant leaving my mum to the wolves
I never moved up there because my work was down here which involved keeping my Mum's business running, Mum used to have a posh, bar/restaurant, and event space at a country hall.
mum had to give the place up after my stroke because she couldn't run it by herself, sadly, (too old) she is also very stubborn, and set in her ways so the thought of getting a new business partner was right out! which was the problem to start with, and why I had to step in.
it was a very lovely place, and I miss all the posh daughters.
It was a tough position to be in, but I had to look after my Mum first, and settle for just visiting my gf, and son as often as I could, like I say, sometimes 3 to 4 times a week, plus I had 2 other kids in yorkshire that I had to visit, and spend time with too.

Now our boy is reaping the benefits of free education, and healthy university student bursaries, plus he is remembered in everybody's Wills up there, I swear that he will leave uni richer than when he went in, and he had a fair amount saved to start with due to an invested Child Trust Fund money sheme, with some extra that we, and family added to the CTF scheme amount
when that matured for his 18th birthday he got almost 8k, one relative died and he was given another 5k on top of that, and he is now living well below his means in a student housing co-op in the big city, so is actually managing to save as a student, he always has been a Jammy bugger, he's no Dafty,
part of the housing co-op's rent includes being given bare essentials, that are bought from ethical ,wholesalers, like all the housing co-ops do, from places like SUMA wholefoods, and green city in glasgow, they even get given, organic produce, it's a really good deal living there, with all bills inc for only£388 per month, with your own furnished bedroom, and minimal sharing apart from the shared communal areas, he got in there easily, mainly because he was born at a co-op that shares strong links with other co-ops, including the student co-op where he lives now, he was real lucky to get offered a place right before he would no longer be allowed to stay in halls, like I said, he is so jammy, his application was *very* good though, and all off his own back we didn't have to cajole him at all, very proud of him I am, much better than paying huge city rents, esp where he is
he is currently studying English, because his mum's dad is an author, and he wants to be just like him
his great grandad was the first in the family to go to university which heavily influenced his mum's dad, so there is quite the tradition of going to uni to do english now for the scottish men along his maternal line, which has now come full circle with our son, going to the same uni as his great grandfather did, who broke out of working class to become educated.

Our boy has a big dick and a great sense of humour too.
Just like his dad.
he is emotionally stable, and is a swimmer, not a sinker.
Just like his mum

sorry to hear that - you must have been incredibly unlucky or were you playing some ridiculously long sessions?
Thanks Man I was pretty much was on the game until I needed sleep, so easily 10 to 14 hour shifts, every day, sometimes more, sometimes less
my total playtime for that season, until I hit 6k SP was 264 hours, so 11 days, and I did play 1155 matches ( with a win percentage of 2%)
Every single game, I had to get points, so every game had to be either a win, or a top 10 finish,
it was very exciting, probably, kicked in my feel good brain juices every match

Sorry to hear about your health problems, please take care of yourself.

Reading all of this has made me think I am due a stroke

Maybe I need to change some things up!
Thanks,Wait what? Didn't you threaten to block me after you showed a lack of reading comprehension in an earlier thread of mine? then throwing a kiddy fit at other posters?
I quess you just didn't have the balls, or you secretly loved me so much that you had to keep me around
get your cholesterol checked, and yes, get fit, and make the time to move around, if you have glued to the PC sessions

Your story sounds shocking and may have contributed to the stroke. However, this type of gaming is becoming increasingly common among young men, i.e. spending a similar number of hours a day playing games as you'd expect to spend in a full-time job. Even outside the NEETs, I hear cases of people working from home and spending the hours they're paid to work playing games instead. Of course, it sounds great if you can get away with it, but it really does dominate some people's lives.
I was 42, which I guess in the grander scheme of things is still quite young,I'm 47 currently, and will probably have to wait for cancer to die now that I'm on blood thinners, and statins, I'm not looking forward to being old, and disabled at the same time
*cheery thoughts*

so, yeah pretty ridiculous, but then I drew the short straw and got really unlucky, yes.

Maybe best to move on from what a randomer
you're not a randomer though are you, you are known here for failing to understand something, then people call you out on that, and then you back track on what you said claiming that people fail to comprehend what you said, which is usually a bit rich seen as it is often you who has failed to comprehend something! to then having a kiddy fit, calling people names(like saying someone is a child ) that get the thread closed down, like in one of my previous threads( about helping my sister out )
