One dead GTO :(

Sorry to break up your little discussion lads, but I just tried the GTO again, and....IT WORKS!!!! Muahahahah thank **** for that.

Now, wheres that waterblock... :D

Leave the RAM SINKS OFF !

I put ram sinks onto my X800 XL and it wouldn't give any screen output.

I removed them, and it worked :D

The little buggers kept falling off anyway, weird thing happened in Vista though. Since putting the GTO back in, the control panel is now empty :|

Handy that seeing as I need the control panel to actually reinstall the drivers :D

yeah I dont get cooling of ram on gpu's? do they need to be cooled or what?
cos on my x1900xtx with the stock HSF the ram would oc happily. but with my new ARCTIC x2 HSF the ram will not oc much at without locking up even though the GPU is cooler? I just dont understand it?

Did the original HSF keep the ram cooler some how? or is the new one getting them warmer? Bah Looking at water cooling most do not even bother with the ram so i just dont understand

I think its just peice of mind. Thinking about it logically, I have no fans in my case, so theres no airflow which means the ram sinks are probably just holding the heat on there.

They wont drop when G80 comes out, G80 is £500, no need fot ATi to drop their prices. ;)

:p

It was you who initially said £500 & for some reason after that everyone was saying it. They wont cost that much, £450 tops I bet inc delivery

Gibbos post from the Nvida Price Drops thread.

HI there

There will be no NVIDIA price drops!

7950 GX2 stock in the channel is nearly all gone. BFG, Leadtek, Gainward all have NO STOCK LEFT and have stopped production. There is only EVGA who have stock left and its something like 300 units for the entire of the UK. So prices will not change much at all, might even increase.

As you can expect G80 to be around £500 with allocation been so tight....

Looks like £500 to me. :p

G80 is £500, have a look in the Nvidia Price Drop Thread, specifically Gibbo's post where funnily enough he says the G80 is £500. :p

Copied and pasted from there :-

How much do you thing they will drop after about a month. I remember the x1900xtx'x just keep going down. I remember paying like £390 on release then after about a month being more like £320ish

I bet they are down from £500 before then, im just waiting for all the threads, got my G80 about 2x weeks ago for £500, now its about £450., and to top it off there in the 'This week Only' for even less. :D

Happened when the x1900's came out, everyone was clamouring for em, then about 3 days later they were in the 'This Week Only' man ive never seen so many of these  smiley's, was great. :D
