One for Penski...

Badgerpoo that E39 is gorgeous - is it definately an M5 though?

Call me a chav if you want but those exhuasts look so great I'm afraid I'll be fitting them to the 530i :(

They look great and wouldn't be chav in my book, they suit the car and it's not like it will be a 1.1 shopping trolley...

I like these euro look cars from a cosmetic perspective, but I don't think I'd want to drive one. I like suspension travel.

Good good. This whole idea of things only looking good on the car they came from is stupid anyway. Who cares what they belong on if they look good?

Some Mk1 and 2 Golf GTI's have small wheels with the tyres stretched over them. It looks good on those, but it really doesn't appeal to me on bigger rims.

noob question:

What is offset? Why does it differ from car to car?

The measurement between the wheel centreline and the wheel mounting face. It differs from car to car because of width of wheels used and distance from the hubs and the bodywork of the car differing.

Thought of penski when I saw this chav's new alloys

:D

It is an M5 yes, albeit heavily modified. The guy that owns them is basically loaded and loves modding cars. He has installed a big lcd screen where the center vent usually goes in an E36 and basically crafted an entire new dash in leather, looks pretty awesome.

He has just started modding an M635CSi which wil also be geting the euro treatment...

Stretched over them?

Low profile?

I don't know what you mean. I've seen smaller alloys on the older Golfs but I don't remember seeing really low profile tyres on them, and I can't see it looking as good as the ones in the OP

I can't help but feel that any type of modification that involves breather mods or body styling is being unfairly branded with the "chav" tag.

For example, I think those exhausts look great Fox and wouldn't have even considered them as chavvy - but because of the way things are going, you've had to justify yourself by saying you don't care if people think you're a chav.

It's a sad state of affairs tbh.

The wheels are really wide and the tyres look like they're stretched to fit mate.

They are 18inch.

255 refers to the sectional width of the tyre in mm. Not the diameter of the wheel.

Page 14, keep up with the class or you'll get extra homework.

'Normal' rim width for 255s would be 10".
