Hi peeps.

So here is the deal, l have a i7 3610QM fitted to an Asus G46VW motherboard (Laptop now defunct and busted).

So l am looking to move the 3610QM that l fitted to it and move it over to a W110ER, this has a 90Watt PSU. Rated at 19v and 4.74 4 Amps.

I know that the 3610QM + GTX 650M will pull upto 105ish Watts under full load.

So looked around for a 120 Watt PSU and came across a few on the other side of the pond.

Now, the original 180 Watt PSU for the Asus G46VW has the same socket as the W110ER however it is rated at 19v and 9.5 Amps.

The W110ER is rated at 19V, 4.74 Amps and 90 Watts.

Now all the technical babble is out of the way, l now guys on the forum have moded PSU for laptops to run higher overclocks (Meaker) and was wondering if the Amp out is constant or does it change depending on demand from the laptop, the voltage is constant so that is not a drama.

I have fitted the PSU and run the laptop without the battery fitted and it booted fine with no funny smells of burning silicon coming from the chassi :)

So is it safe, is it wise or should l just stick with the original 90 Watt PSU and not fit the 3610QM?

Any pointers or help would be much appreciated.

C.

Found the answer, the polarity and the voltage match and as the PSU provides upto 9 Amps it is all good.
