For christmas I got a Velbon Ultra Luxi F Tripod so I thought I would get myself out while everyone else was having an afternoon nap ;) I took a load of shots and came to the conclusion that my S5600 is *very* noisy in the dark, even set at ISO 100! Anyway my fav from today is this, c&c welcome :)

Dammit, that shot makes me want to go back to Uni right away... The amount of times I've staggered drunk out of Flynns and across the swing bridge to the boat... Did you get any of the Millenium bridge or the Sage?
 
I do have one of the Millenium Bridge but it is not worth putting online ;) The only Sage photo I have is this one

I'm sure my eyes are going crazy. The shots are both nice but i feel like the first one needs rotating clockwise slightly. However lining it up with my browser (technical, i know); it seems to be ok. Am i going mad? :confused:

As for the noise, does your camera have any kind of long exposure noise reduction that you could turn on?

I was using the spirit level on my Tripod so it *should* be spot on - The roads in Newcastle are shocking and it could be on a slant mind you ;)

Dont think so :( I am looking to buy a DSLR pretty soon so that would solve that problem!

Long exposures are often prone to noise im afraid.

I also think that first one needs a little straighten - not much mind you. :)

snap! i got one for my s5500. what a great tripod :cool:

There is a definately a slight slant I think. All the posts and the bridge all appear to be slanting to the left ever so slightly.

Some nice shots though :)

Nope :)

Line it up with the edge of your browser. The Tyne Bridge is supposed to be a bit lower on the end like that. Look at the other two bridges though - the further away ones - it's perfect!

OT - how do you find the G7? Is it OK to use as a runaround camera to just take snaps of mates as well as arty ones?

it's barrel distortion. look at the lamppost in the first pic - open up photoshop and draw a rectangular selection box between the edge of the lampost and the left edge of the picture. that lamppost is almost perfectly vertical. That says barrel distortion to me.
 
I prefer the second one. With some cloning you could get rid of that flare. It'd only take 10 mins to do it properly.
