One in six foreign offenders living in the community have absconded, including 58 dangerous individuals who have been missing since 2010, the National Audit Office has revealed.

The NAO also found that police were failing to conduct overseas criminal record checks on more than two-thirds of arrested foreign nationals.

Truly shocking that the situation hasn't improved. Not only has it not improved it actually seems to have got worse. Labour Home Secretary Charles Clarke lost his job in 2006 over this shambles, we've had more than one Home Secretary since then but none of them have been able to make any progress. What is going wrong?

A final thought from this link on the same subject: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29715630

Paul Houston's 12 year old daughter, Amy, was knocked down and killed in in a hit-and-run incident in Blackburn, Lancashire, in 2003, by an Iraqi Kurd who was banned from driving and had been refused asylum.

He is still in the UK and Mr Houston told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that politicians had "blood on their hands".

"They owe it to society to protect us from dangerous criminals," he said, adding that a "lot of money has been spent" for "very little progress".

The crazy thing is that spending on this issue has massively increased and yet there has been no improvement!

The answer to this one is quite simple. You pass a bill where all immigrants are required to live in areas which are populated by the Guardian reading champagne socialists. When it actually impinges on their lives and the local primary school register is calling Mohammed every 5 secs then we'll see an disinclination to put so many obstacles in the way of sensible immigration policy.

Spending has been in the wrong places.

It should be hardened coppers out on the street knocking down doors, tracking them down and chucking them in the shipping container back home, not *****s with law degrees piddling away on a macbook drinking taxpayer expensed coffee.

Just ignore any human rights/EU legislation and deport them if they are found to have any criminal conviction on entering the country or as soon as they have finished a term in jail without any appeal process.

How in Gods name did we get to a position where we have no idea whatsoever of how many people are in the country.

We can't stop them coming in either legally or illegally, but one thing's certain once you step foot in Britain one way or another as long as you're properly advised you will never have to leave unless you're an idiot.

Who cab blame some Somalian hiding under a lorry as the streets here are literally paved with gold.
