One line thoughts

Surely you can tell a six from an eight!? :p

Yeah, when I was tearassing down the road at midnight maxxing out the onboard stored CD's, the first thing I thought was, oooh this is a turbo 6 auto not a v8. I drive cars not read brochures.

:p

Picked up a Fiat 500X 1.4 Multiair bound for Dunfermline on Monday, took it from Croydon to Somerset (home) and have to say, whilst it is not great fun in Eco mode, in Sport mode, I kinda fell in love with it. Completely changed my view from my first post.

Added Jaguar XF 2.2 Sportbreak and Fiesta ST Mountune.

Really? I had a 500X as a hire car a few months ago and found it pretty terrible. The steering feel was awful/non-existant and thats coming from a Audi driver. :o

Not my cup of tea but better than the 500L.

Sounds like you were driving it in auto mode, how I had it originally, sticking it in sport mode changed the steering significantly.

My sarcasm detector just went into overload :p

Seriously....:o:o:o

No such thing intended from me. I have found your comments to be useful, and as someone who has a bad back and knee which stop/start urban driving aggravates, your video about the Golf with ACC was especially interesting as I was unaware such a feature existed!

I'm not in a position to change just yet, but keep your opinions coming as I value them to:D:D:D

And, for the reasons mentioned above I would be especially interested on your thoughts on automatics as this is the only way to go for me!!!

Thank you, I will :)

Had the joy of driving 400 miles in a poverty spec 1.2 Ibiza today, who buys crap like that?

Volvo FH 460, good visibility, comfortable and fantastic brakes.

The steering in my 530 always felt heavy after a night in the Volvo HGV.....

*looks over at co-worker who has one*

Ex-Peasant Wagon type... I assume because it was cheap.

Delivered the 63 plate one today, guy reckoned it would go for £5k, are people that desperate for a 63 plate car they would rather have that than the alternatives 5k buys you?

63? That's 2013-14...?
Is that the most recent model, or something?

Clearly they don't care and just want the newest/prettiest-looking one, else they'd buy an older 2nd hand one for less money and get much more bang for buck...

Heck, for five grand, I could buy a Golf and the tax/MoT/insurance to get it on the road, as well as another whole Golf or two just as spares!!

But no, they just don't know and don't care to know. I was arguing the pros and cons of which car the Mrs and I go for, but to her a hatchback, saloon and estate are all "the same thing"... She's far more intelligent than me, but to her this is just a box with wheels that goes faster than she can walk and comes in different colours. It needs seats, heating, windows and music.

Then again, she doesn't want a ZZR600 because "It's only a 600" and her 650 Dragstar was too small and slow....!!

I think it is the current shape, in the Seat dealer today the brand new 1.2fsi looked the same, but I didn't pay it much heed tbh. Even in FR trim it didn't look a whole lot better but I guess it was :D

Delivering a brand new 435d MSport on Tuesday, looking forward to that. Drove a 2012 BMW 2.0D 3 Series Auto, would buy one of those tomorrow if I had the funds, really good saloon car, maybe my fave non performance saloon car ever.
