One Nova I could live with...

Why the hell would you love to own a Nova?

I've always had a thing for them. I've always wanted an Sr/GTE/GSi with an XE/LET engine.

Total Vauxhall have featured a couple of subtle ones now, and they look fantastic :)

Nova Turbo.

Apart from the splitter which is a bit too deep, that would make so much fun :D

Hi,in response to dozens emails. and questions about body work, please remember its 16 years old, my mum hit gate post, years back, hence wing ,bonnet changed, over its life bits touched up ,but by vauxhall main agent. its a very clean tidy sports hatch, but not pristine, or show winner, its a very very low milage usable fun, car ,that will take you any place, 100% reliable, will hold its value or increase.

So, its mint (15k on perhaps the easiest clocked car out there!) apart from the replacement wing & bonnet (thats some gate post!) He says himself its not pristine nor a show winner yet he deems it worth £2400?

The guys got a sense of humour it seems!

Having lived with a Nova 1.2 Diamond which was then new on an F plate, I can happily say I could'nt live with any other!!!!

Having owned a 230BHP RS Turbo Escort, all I say to that is you think torque steer is fun? - I say that as torque steer is all you get from 80's hatches with FWD & Turbo's!

No fun at all.

"Cos Tony's got a new mota, SR Nova, driving like a joyrider, speeding to the corner, Yer mother warned yer to sound system banger "

To be fair I have respect for anyone that can keep a 10 year old + car looking like its just rolled off the production line (or as near as) Whilst it may not be perfect by his own admission it does look bloody good.

Not my cup of tea though.

Sorry but it's still a heap of junk. Who gives a stuff about 'time warp condition'? It's a 16 year old Nova, £2.5k would get you a far more modern Saxo 1.4 Furio in similar or better condition if small capacity hatchbacks is your thing.

Nova's were never good to start with. Dropping a 2.0L Turbo in them only makes the handling worse. Dont you have to cut part of the bulkhead away to do that anyway? I could think of many cars I would rather splash £2400 on....and a Nova sure as hell isnt one of them.

Ive driven a 2l turbo nova with uprated suspension/brakes, was actually really really good fun, id probably even consider owning one if it was cheap (ie 1500 max) for a laugh, like a go kart.

But that would just be another Saxo, rather than one of the tidiest Novas out there. I quite like them, I borrowed one for an autotest and it was good for that sort of driving. Naved a 1.2 on a road rally and we caught a well driven 309 GTi. Thats a good enough reason to have one for me, if we all liked the same cars wouldn't life be boring.
