Long boring story approaches
Decided to fix my sisters computer with a new hard drive as her one was grinding and a different graphics card as she was unable at times to get past the "monitor sleeping mode", in other words no display. Opened up the computer, put in the new drive and there was no secondary power cable for a newish gfx card, some cheepo 400w psu and lack of cables. Had to make do with her old gfx
I spent the next god knows how many hours trying to get the system to boot properly, how ever many cmos resets and all it did was load a few fans but not the cpu one. Basically exactly what it was doing before! Nearly gave up and all of a sudden after trying a new vga cable we had the bios screen and it was booting into windows. YAY so i thought, spent the next 30mins or more bog eyed at the installing screen for windows 8 and gave up. Turned out I had to after reading google, disable the floppy drive, wolla it was installing.
Installed Windows 8 but then ran into difficulty trying to get her old x1950 to detect, had to download a driver mod and while ccc isn't currently working she had full graphics. All was well, sister came home, turned the computer on and... NO DISPLAY

Restarted and it said "Overclocking had failed", it wasn't even overclocked! It was at complete defaults, with a properly set up bios, so I tried again, and for the next 3hrs it was working fine. Sister comes back later, again it didn't start up properly
Came home to put the new SSD drive in my system and one of the screws falls inbetween the metal internal's. Then when I finally get it installed, with a back ache killing me, I find out that ACHI mode is disabled as it was set to RAID which you need to do for the SSD CACHE set up which I'm no longer running. Ooops I thought i've been running Windows 8 in raid mode with no ACHI, so I turn on ACHI in bios and Windows 8 freezes and no longer boots. Get that fixed thanks to a registry edit, ACHI mode is now working with Windows 8 good as new
I click on Format to make a new partition and instead of clicking QUICK, I click FORMAT.
OMG What a day
