After seeing that trailer I am in two minds, I agree with you about the persona now....the issue I have is his voice lol, I always pictured it a bit more gravely.....
 
Massive Reacher fan myself and I've been keeping an eye out for any news of a film for years.

The film has been stalled for a long time, but as soon as Tom Cruise became involved all the doors started to open and the possibility of a film being made went from maybe to definately.

Tom Cruise is not going to fit with anyones initial idea of that Reacher looks like, however I'm going to roll with it.

I really enjoyed the books and I'm pretty sure going to enjoy the film too, thats for damn sure - it's going to be interesting to see what they do with the story - the trailer definately whets the appetite.

Even inpgnoring the whole Tom cruise thing.
He's not a good driver, he doesn't wear nice clothes, he's a bum.
The books aren't really action either. There's a huge amount of build up to just a couple of encounters. This looks like an action film :(
When did reacher ever buy a leather jacket, or fitted shirts.

I agree, should be good action film. But the more I see and read, non of it speaks Reacher. From what he does, wears, looks, even the story looks messed up.
 
I love the Jack Reacher books but must say i'm quite disappointed from what i've seen so far. Just from looking at the stills it's all wrong. He only ever has 1 set of clothes at a time and those are usually bought from depo store or something similar so rarely looks smart. He's supposed to be a 6'4" or more if i remember correctly and very muscley. Tom Cruise is pretty much the exact opposite. I'll look forward to it as it's Jack Reacher but think i'm going to end up sad.
 
I saw this recently and really enjoyed it. It isn't anywhere near as action packed at the trailer makes it out to be but there is still a fair bit in it. I will admit though that I have never read any of the books so this series and characters are all entirely new to me so while Cruise might not relate to the book character for me this was easily ignored as I have no idea how they play out so I was able to just enjoy the film.
 
Am off to see this next tues with the missus, really like Tom Cruise and from what i have seen of the movie...it looks pretty good to me.

I havent read any of the books and wont until ive watched the movie. Anyone recommend which books i should read and get??

Deff start with the killing floor it is the first book and my fav :)

are my fav 3 off the top of my head, ive just started to read them all again so will let you know if I find any blinders, "The visitor" is by far the weakest imo

Saw it in the end last week, without the book it was an ok film, taking the book into account they missed a lot out.

I agree on the boob comment.

The film was actually quite good once you get over the TC/JR size difference.

I have read a good handful of the books and have enjoyed everyone. If you go in expecting an average action movie you will not be disappointed.
