I bought an SSD for my PC today and I've intended to use it for my OS and other important files. I've also got a 500GB HDD installed in my system which I want to use for programmes like STEAM, AVG, Open Office and other things like games. I've hit a little snag. I'm not an expert when it comes to drives so I need some help. Is there some sort of option I need to choose to get Windows 7 to organize the 500GB HDD properly. I've been installing programmes to it and they're not going into folders like on the SSD which has my OS on it. I'm also having to make my own folders on the HDD during installations, however if I choose the SSD, the programme makes its own.

When you install stuff pick the custom install option and change the drive letter.

So if its going to c:\xxx change it to D:\xxx assuming C is the boot drive and D is the new SSD

Personally tho id reformat and install windows in the SSD

I have installed Windows 7 onto my SSD. That's the point of this thread, mate. The SSD is organised but the HDD isn't. Everything just loads onto it with no order. There is no 'program files' or 'program files (x86) or anything like that. It's just all a huge mess. Now I've got things like VCRED and LOADS of install.res1042.dll files similar to that.

you can create your own folder and call it what you want on your hdd, theres no wrong/right way

can be

games
movies
programs

ect,thats what I do
