Ive just checked the OCUK site and now im well annoyed for two reasons:-
1) forum guys suggested i buy the opteron 144 processor when i did as they were ceasing production and only delivering to the genuine server market or summat so i bought a month ago i payed £134.95 exc VAT now OCUK are selling the same processor (same CAB2E version) for £104.95 exc VAT and more importantly the 146 for £129.95
obviously prices go down but the fact that its sat in my room in the box and hasnt even been opened cuz i need a motherboard to put it just makes it more annoying)
2) i currently have no motherboard...
i was going to buy the DFI crossfire board OCUK used to stock. however some guys on the forum said i should wait as there were reported bugs with that board and i should see what other companies release.
So i waited to see not a lot from other companies asus implemented dual 16x crossfire thats it. Since i dont plan on changing the GFX in this system i dont think ill utilise the 16x bandwith ( i think thats rite as im planning on an x1900 xt with the crossfire added later when funds permit - does anyone know if these cards really need dual 16x bandwith or do they run fine without).
i also love DFI as im big on overclocking and they offer thousands of options to tinker with.
neway after waiting for motherboards and buying the processor when suggested im left with an unopened opteron that cost more than the next model up does now! and OCUK no longer stock the motherboard i initailly had thought about.
Anyway rant over with i feel better having got that off my chest.

ps if anyone can shed any light on my do i really need dual 16x pci express to run crossfire x1900s (not xtx) could you please let me know before i begin tracking down somewhere that sells the DFI crossfire board.
