Hey guys and girls,
If no one remembers my other thread over a year ago lol then here is a quick brief:

I was engaged to a girl and we were due to migrate to New Zealand.

Said girl broke up with me (well, just cutting me off with no reason etc and leaving me with a broken heart) 2 weeks before we were due to leave.

I made a decision to go anyway and start a new life out on my own. Screw the girl?!

I suppose that is a quick summery haha so here is the update!

One year on and a bit and what do I have to say for myself? Well life is rather great to be honest.
I started at an IT position in a private school which was awesome! People were amazing and the IT team was streamlined in providing the best service.
I gave this job up after a year and am now (as of Monday), will be working for an IT consulantcy which does a heap more clients and networking which is right down my alley.

Moved into another flat in the city (Needed to be closer to work and the bars). I use to live further away in a great place but the driving was annoying during rush hour.

In the whole year I visited 17 different beaches around Auckland and numerous parks, cliffs, waterfalls etc. Every single one of them is beautiful!

Made a pig of myself on the dating scene and got with a few girls. Still single but I am enjoying the freedom too much.

With regards to the Ex. I communicated with her for a while and she was extreamly sorry and wanted to try again but wanted me to come back. This was about 4 months into the adventure and I decided that I'm sticking to my guns and not returning. If she wanted me, I am here. It didn't go down well but in all honesty, I wanted a better life than I had in the UK. Going back would have distroyed me slowly inside.
Anyway, I found out she had a string of boyfriends that never lasted and now she is going to be a single parent! Go her!...
I still talk to her now and then as the love for her will always remain. I would never of thought she would have a kid so young but there you go. I do wish her all the best.

In life, you are on the planet to live, grow your mind and have fun! This is what I am totally doing right now  The adventure is amazing and if anyone has the urge to do something completly different, my advice is do it! You have one life, live it!

I hope this has peaked your interest for 30 seconds.
Hope OCUK has a fantastic weekend!

Ben

I got to the " she was extreamly sorry and wanted to try again but wanted me to come back" and filled with dread, thinking 'oh here we go, another useless sap is about to throw everything away for nothing after making it so far' but I was pleasantly surprised!

Well done O.P. I remember your original thread well. Takes guts to up sticks and create a whole new life for yourself. Are there any graduate electronic engineering jobs going out there? :p

I think I remmeber posting in your thread saying never give up new experiences and adventure for anyone aka letting others hold you back, even some piece of totty you think "means" something deep to you at that present time.

And now you're better off for it, prediction correct.

Glad it's all good op.
